vonel: hello
Riot: yo yo
Ganaroth: Wololo.
vonel: wait... so does that mean I'm on your side now and have to fight the party?
Ganaroth: Wat?
Ganaroth: Oh, durr
Ganaroth: Sorry, forgot I made the joke.
Ganaroth: A little embarassing. My attention went to something else, and I immediately lost track of the fact that I said that, lol.
Ganaroth: Hokay. I'm just about ready to go. Sorry for the sudden psych issue that killed last session. I wish I wasn't vulnerable to things like that. But regardless, here I am now.
Riot: We are missing a fox person it seems
Ganaroth: Huh.
Ganaroth: You're right. I was talking to him on discord, so I guess I assumed.
Ganaroth: I forgot that he's off at 3:30.
Riot: Ahhhh so did I
Ganaroth: Well, I guess I could try to get a couple of other things done.
=^v^= has connected.
Ra'ven: oi
vonel: yo
Ganaroth: Heyo thar.
Riot: yo yo
Ganaroth: Everyone doing ok today?
vonel: yep
Ra'ven: not terrible but yaknow sorta eh work week
Riot: Doing alright
Ganaroth: And also, let me know when you're ready, since I basically am. Sympathy on the work week.
Ra'ven: i still resent me loosing my most common pair of shoes
Riot: Ready whenever
Ganaroth: Oh, last time Akaiku mentioned that you folk should sort out the potions.
Ra'ven: yes
vonel: I'm good to go
Ganaroth: So you might want to spend a couple of moments doing that.
Ra'ven: heal+save for minor action seems relelvent for the "can't attack also bloodied" state of people
Ra'ven: anyone remember how many potions we had left? I'm pretty sure Lucky had one at least
Ganaroth: (If you can't remember how many you have, I don't mind reseting this. Let's give you 4 Vit potions, and 2 other potion-type consumable of whatever type you want.)
Riot: (( I do not for the life of me remember ))
Ganaroth: (Which is valid, given that I don't either, and I forget shit constantly.)
=^v^=: (( I do not use consumables in games ever so this is a new dimention in gameplay ))
Ganaroth: (I'm trying to make consumable more of a thing. They're a long-standing fantasy staple.)
Ganaroth: (I kinda miss the existence of potions and scrolls as a real gameplay feature. Scrolls are way harder to re-implement, though.)
Ganaroth: (I'm satisfied with wands/staffs/rods/etc as they are, though.)
=^v^=: (( so 4 vit potions, going to say luck has one and kay has one, since kay is tank and low minor use and luck is melee with low minor use. unsure where other 2 should go. Maybe io or ra, cause mobility but idk ))
Riot: (( what does a vitality potion do again ))
=^v^=: (( spend surge, get 20? hp and a save as a minor, we changed it to be able to use on ally within 5 ))
Ganaroth: (25 hit points + Save)
Riot: (( Ah gotcha ))
Ganaroth: (And yeah, we're allowing potion throws, because that worked well in bg3)
Ganaroth: (No aoe potion throws, though. Lol.)
Riot: (( So are you suggesting using that for the "can't attack" people vs just second wind and then saving at the end of the turn? ))
Riot: (( just so I'm tracking ))
=^v^=: (( I mean if they are bloodied, they could use the potion, which might break out the can't attack ))
Ganaroth: (I'm not suggesting any course of action for any player. I'm just saying that you have potions.)
=^v^=: (( if not they can ALSO second wind ))
=^v^=: (( if they want ))
=^v^=: (( or grant a save to adjacent etc ))
Riot: (( Yeah I meant Akaiku, sorry lol ))
Ganaroth: (Is all good!)
=^v^=: (( also i believe other then potions we have 1 non-second-wind healing power between the party right now ))
=^v^=: (( aside from regeneration etc ))
=^v^=: (( so ya, aside from luck and kay who else wants a potion? ))
=^v^=: (( lil? ))
Ganaroth: (anyone?)
Ganaroth: (Ok, since nobody has an opinion, just give those to whomever you want, Akaiku.)
Ganaroth: (Same with whichever non-vit potions you want.)
=^v^=: (( what level non-vit potions and not healing right? ))
Ganaroth: (Up to level 15, and they could be more healing if you want, but not Vit, so they'll be less powerful. Other options might be more efficient, if you can think of them.)
Ra'ven looks sadly at level 16 potion of heroism xP
=^v^=: (( how about a cure mod potion and pell gets a flash flower ))
=^v^=: (( flash flower lets you say one person hit with a lightning power you just did is also blind untill eont ))
Ganaroth: (nobody seems to have an opinion, Akaiku, so you get to choose.)
Riot: (( sounds good to me ))
Ganaroth: (Ok, so did the angel of love go, or not?)
Ganaroth: (before I ran away.)
=^v^=: (( lets say the vit potions are on lil and itzen, ra has the cure mod and pell has the flash flower also angel didn't go cause it's prone ))
Ganaroth: (I have no idea what out of turn stuff might have happened, so it's usually best to ask rather than assume)

vonel: (( If you want to, sure. ))
Riot: (( Do what ever is best for you and your emotional state, friend ))
Angel of Sorrow 1: I feel like a complete tool. There is a minute by minute accumulation of my own apparent bad decisions going on right now, and there's nothing I can do to salvage this as a result. I'm going to end this. The last angel falls to the ground, though you can already hear the shouts of more reinforcements approaching.
Angel of Sorrow 1: Feel free to continue, if you want.
Ra'ven: "These hurt when they gang up on you... which direction now?"
Lucky: "I've got zero clue. Not towards the shouting, probably."
Eileen: "Yeah no real clue either, either we try and hide some were till they leave or we just start going away from the voices."
Lucky mimes at them to cheese it
Ra'ven looks to Io, "Any sense for what the godthing is?"
Ganaroth: (Can you define "godthing?")
=^v^=: (( the source of soma was supposed to be down here also some sorta divinity ))
Riot: (( I think the thing thats blood is being used for the drug / angel sustenance ))
Io: "I have no idea. It's not as if I can sense them; I only know they must exist because the Soma does. I have a certain sense for dragons, as they fall under my "portfolio," if you wish to call it that. I am the god of dragons. I am not, however, the god of GODS, and have no special awareness of their presence, or whom they might be."
Riot: (( lol portfolio ))
Io: (I think. It's also possible I said otherwise. In which case, that seems about standard for me.)
Itzen: "Perhaps we go (whatever direction is upward on the map)? The one reinforcement came from the other direction..."
Io: (Yeah, portfolio is what a god's sphere of responsibility has traditionally been called in DnD. There was a period in 2nd edition where they divided things up into specific spheres instead, which were sorta a parallel version of schools of magic, but that didn't last.)
Riot: (( huh I did not know that ))
Lucky: "Sounds good to me. Let's beat feet before more of these fuckers give us problems."
Eileen nods
Io: (Yeah. Back during that period, it was actually optional whether the "cleric" class existed at all. Instead you had specific priest classes, which had their own custom spell lists and some attendant abilities, so some priests couldn't actually heal at all, since "healing" was a specific sphere. It's a decent concept, but it wasn't implemented satisfactorily, because 2e was nightmarishly NOT modular.)
Kaylen Fisher: "Sounds good to me. If nothing else, we can just keep causing a ruckus."
Riot: (( did 2e use THAC0 ))
Kaylen Fisher: Yup
Riot: (( I am glad I did not play back then, ngl ))
Riot: (( I am but a simple story driven nerd, and THAC0 confuses and infuriates me ))
Kaylen Fisher: (No, that's a totally valid opinion. I'm glad I did, because it led to other things, but I definitely wouldn't go back.)
Kaylen Fisher: (I still haven't head a satisfactory explanation for why thaco.)
You move towards the north. A couple of times, as you pass the oddly regular freestanding chambers, you see another angel exit. They look about for a few moments before locking on to you, but by that point you're already past, leaving them to try to catch up. At the northenmost extreme, you find a sturdy metal grating blocking the way to an open chamber with a visible sarcophagus. A faint blue light shines from within, and a thin mist seems to collect around the floor.
Ra'ven: "Omnous!"
Kaylen Fisher moves over quickly to examine the opening. "Uh... ok. A magic lock, yeah. Looks like there's a barrier across the door. Look." She points toward the ground. The thin mist appears to be pressing up against something at the threshold, unable to cross the grating. "Ugh. And the grate has a physical lock." She points to the heavy lock visible on the entryway. "If anyone can do that while I work on the barrier, I'd be much obliged. Gonna take a sec."
Ra'ven is all about unloocking things

Effect: She can draw or stow an object of less then 1lb as a free action. She can also make thievery checks and use thieves' tools with her tail.
Ra'ven waits to see if pell succeeds tho
Pell is surprised to discover that the lock foils his efforts! Every time you try to turn a tumbler, it seems as though two others click to a different position!
Riot: (( WELL DAMN ))
Ra'ven:
  : Rolled 26. Thievery
Ra'ven tries as well
Ganaroth: (I hope you're not annoyed that Ra'ven hit the required number, Pell.)
Pell grumbles his annoyance at the lock.
Riot: (( no lol ))
Riot: (( it was funny ))
Ganaroth: (Ok. I know it can get annoying, though. )
Ra'ven manages to get it to work. Being able to hold a third pick with your tail is a huge advantage in this case.
The barrier falls, and the grating opens before any of the reinforcements can descend on you.
Ra'ven waves people inside
Lilium slips in
The room on the other side is older than the rest of this basement level... significantly so. Enough, in fact, that the stone shows clear signs not only of use, but of weathering. Sharp corners have been smoothed away by generations of wind and water, before whatever happened to enclose it. The sarcophagus shows the unclear lines of a woman in plate armor that somehow gives the impression of being no more encumbring on her than cotton or silk. To the side, you can see a slowly rotating cube of bright blue energy. The light is cold... but somehow it is a soothing ice, rather than a killing kind.
Lilium: "Let's hope they don't bother to look in here." She says as she goes to look at the sarcophagus a bit more closely.
Kaylen Fisher closes the grating firmly. "Oh, they'll find us. But we might have a moment. 'Sides, we want them to keep chasing us, not lose track!"
Anyone who is hear may feel free to make a religion or history check.
Kaylen Fisher: *here

Eileen notes a number of features that suggest that the woman depicted might have been either an elf or an eladrin. The style of the carving seems reminiscent of similar burial sites in Evenbough, including the one you yourself were found in. Itzen, on the other hand, is able to note a number of sigils that have occasionally been used in conjuction with faiths and philosophies that emphasize dreams, illusions, and sleep. There are also a series of crescents and circles, both regular and not, that form a procession around the rim of the sarcophagus, but you're not sure what they are supposed to mean.
Itzen explains
Eileen relates.
Ra'ven: "Oooh, think it's someone sleeping?"
Lucky: "I wonder if we can wake her?"
Eileen: "Waking the dead... you two..."
Lucky shrugs. "Wouldn't be the first time. Well, sorta."
"I think I know her... but it's not right. This is the burial place of an aspect, not the whole of her." They seem demoralized. "I'd hoped that something could be done, but not as she is now..." They look up with a tired expression. "It is appropriate that she is caught in slumber, after a fashion, as that is her domain. I... don't know if she could be awoken. We are beings that can survive being separated, so this would not by itself be fatal to her. But what affects it might have, I could not guess."
Io: (Dammit, that's Io.)
Io: (Again, never going to not make a mistake.)
Ra'ven: "So not dead then?"
Ra'ven: "Perhaps we can just kidnap her then? I mean, it's someone you know so probably predates everything by unreasonable amounts."
Io: "Here lies Sehanine Moonbow, goddess of the Moon, of Dreams, of slumber and transcendence. Dreaming, not dead."
Eileen turns to look at the light sorce and walks towards it.
Lilium: "I... I guess we found there... Ummm sorce?"
Lucky: "Do you think the other... aspect of her might be here, too?"
Ra'ven: "What sorta bow is a moon anyways?"
Io: "Well, the Sehanine Moonbow PART of her, at least. It's difficult to explain, though I suppose it might be easier for you. We contain multitudes, by many names, and the names mortals know us by may only represent a small part of ourselves." They chuckle a little under their breath. "Er... yes, I suppose it wouldn't translate. Before the wolf, a sphere of light hung in the sky during the dark times, like a candle to break the threat of darkness. This was the silver light of the moon... which I suppose has been replaced by your silver and argent cycles."
Io: "Interestingly, she would have quite possibly have been your patron, in the world as it was, Itzen. Roughly half of lycanthropes were."
Io: (were hers. bad grammar.)
Itzen: "She was not patron of wolves then?"
Io: "Not specifically. She held dominion over the protective aspects of many beasts, though I believe that wolves and bears were always her particular favorites." They sigh. "They got on well enough with Bahamut, but despised Tiamat. I'm not certain what she would think of me. Sehanine Moonbow, Alessuraleen, Selune, Artemion... She was so much, and now she is... this."
Itzen frowns slightly "Would she disapprove of her power being used for the sort of enslavement it currenty is to forgive a bit of disturbance?"
The cube of light is somehow cold, but inviting in that paradoxical way you first felt on entering. It seems to sing gently to you. You're not sure why it sounds like something familiar that shouldn't be.
Ra'ven: "I mean the you you are right now hasn't done anything sinister or mean or bad at all, Io..."
Io: (that, of course, was toward Eileen, since she's looking.)
Io: "The me that I am is the sum of all things that were Bahamut and Tiamat. I am every bit as responsible for her actions. All of that which was capable of montrousness still lives in me. And she would know that."
It sounds as though a number of enemies are gathering just out of sight. At the very least, you can hear them moving around, though you don't immediately have an idea about the numbers or types.
Eileen: "....any one... any one else feel like everything in here is weirdly familiar?"
Ra'ven: "Most normal people are capable of both virute and monsterousness though..... was that not true of you before?" (does anyone?)
Kaylen Fisher: "Uh... not really?" She looks around. "I'm pretty sure anywhere like THIS in Si En Kelar was looted at least two centuries ago. It's kinda peaceful, though. Even with the baddies right outside."
Some of you absolutely feel this. Itzen, Lucky, Ra and Lilium can feel it. The only ones who don't seem to be Pell and Kay.
Ra'ven hmms, "I do sorta, but that happens to a lot of strange places..."
Io: "Of course I was. But that doesn't change that Tiamat left a legacy of pain and destruction behind her, and I am every bit as guilty as she was."
Lilium nods, "Yeah... but I've never been in a place like this before, so that's a biut odd."
Lucky: "I feel something , that's for sure. This place is fuckin' weird."
Itzen: "Perhaps it is that patronage thing, beings that are attuned to her... portfolio?"
Ra'ven: "I mean that was long ago and basically everything is different from now, plus you seem to regret it right? Probably should be forgiven."
Lucky: "Wouldn't make much sense, as I've never heard of her. Not really religious, anyway, myself."
Io: "Hmm. That''s interesting. I wouldn't have thought you'd feel anything at all." They frown. "It makes sense, in a way, but that kind of connection was always by our own choice. We could MAKE a connection to those that resonated with us. But with her in this state, I can't imagine she's making any choices at all. So why...?"
Io hops over to Eileen. "What do you have here?"
Ra'ven: "Perhaps she's reaching out to whoever she can instinctivly?"
Lucky inspects the sarcophagus
Ra'ven: "Lots of people do that when sleeping."
Eileen glances at her weapon for just a moment before looking to Io, "Some kind of light sorce, it's cold but not in a "going to kill you way." Like it's strangly inviting and soothing."
Kaylen Fisher nods at Ra's statement. "That sounds like it could be. I mean, you spent like a million years dead without dying, Io. Wouldn't surprise me if she could do bullshit like that."
Io: "Yes, it is." Io stands on their hind legs, and reaches up toward it with one claw. "It feels nostalgic..."
Ra'ven pulls up a seat on the sarcophagus and pulls her bow at the door just in case someone decides to enter
The deity supposedly within the sarcophagus doesn't do anything to smack Ra'ven.
Io's claw touches the cube of light. Almost immediately, additional dimensions make themselves known to them and Eileen. Shapes within shapes, with lines stretching out in directions that you're certain never existed before now. Io starts backwards, eyes wide, before flicking Eileen a guilty expression. "Um... I think I may have just..." With each word, the light grows brighter and brighter, and a soft melody begins to play, deep in the quiet corners of your minds.
=^v^=: (( is it brighter to others or just them? ))
Io: (Sorry. Occasionally even the npcs get to do non-optimal things, if nobody stops them. It's brighter to everyone.)
Eileen: "Well that's something..."
Lucky looks up from where she'd been focused on the sarcophagus, turning toward the light source. "Uhhhh..."
Ra'ven: "That's pretty bright..." Ra sheields her eyes but keeps one towards the door, incuring some rather annoying for her head turning back and forth, "Um... what is it?"
A whisper in the mind. Like a thousand separate syllables that only coincidentally come together to form words, dripping with malice and scorn. "Oh.... there you are."
Itzen: "Ah perhaps this is that shared dream..." Itzen says, not hiding the bit of annoyance in her voice particularly well
The Gray Angel: "It looks like I don't have to show up there myself to get rid of you after all." A sharp snicker of venomous laughter. "Sweet dreams, intruders."
Io: "Um... probably. I'm very sorry."
Lucky: "Mother fucker ."
Ra'ven springs up to see if she can quickly bar/jam/etc the door in case this means they are about to be knocked out

Riot: (( Just Ra ))
Before the light grows to blinding radiance, Ra'ven is able to spring back towards the gate, slamming it back into place. You hear a satisfying *click* from the lock, and you register a tiny popping in your ears as the air pressure stabilizes, the barrier raised again as well. Moments later, the cube flashes, the light obliterating your view of the chamber... but the radiance, beyond all understanding, is soft and welcoming even as it encompasses your entire vision.
...AND THEN...
Riot: (( Dude Where's My Car And Then No And Then.gif ))
vonel: (( 'Cause I got high, because I got high, because I got high ))
You awaken. The air is cold and sharp, and above you where you lie staring up at the sky is a tremendous field of stars, covering the entire canvas of the sky, rather than as walls the sides of the world. A silver light shines down, like the silver orb of Garmera, but the source is too round, and covered with grey speckles. All around you is the dark violet of unnatural stone, and the luminescence of flora and fauna unfamiliar to you, like the images of half-remembered hallucinations.
Io: (one moment!)
=^v^=: (( DA DA DA, DA, DA, DA ))
You're lying on the ground, not that it appears to matter, since the world around you seems silent, save for the trilling of oddly musical insects. Io rights themselves, looking around with a distinctly guilty expression.
Io: "...So, that might have been my fault."
Eileen: "Yes... yes it was... not that I blame you. I was probably going to try that myself, you just beat me to it."
Ra'ven: "You poked a glowing singing rock... someone was going to."
Pell: "I am beginning to regret ever leaving the bar."
Io: "Sigh... Well, I thank you for treating my error with good humor, at least." They look around. "Oh. Well, now you know what a moon looks like. I suppose I was right in finding this nostalgic." They look over a Ra, and jump, clearly startled. "Well. Are you well, Ra'ven? You have a little something on your... everywhere."
Io: (I will leave it to Akaiku to elaborate.)
Eileen looks over at Ra
Lilium is a bit to focused on the unfamiliar flora and fauna to be paying attation to much else.
Io: (Also, just for the record, because it doesn't necessarily look like it, going to dreamland wasn't actually a given. There are 3 corpse areas on the basement map, and each of them had a different outcome! You just, uh, happened to pick the one I forecasted to the greatest degree, lol.)
Ra'ven seems to be a vaguly shaowy flicker of herself making it hard to stare, glowing red eyes and dark wolfen features, her face tattoo a harsh buring fire that strangly does not light up things, her fingers and toes appear like jagged claws.
Kaylen Fisher: "Wow." She gets up, moving slightly backwards with no apparent conscious thought. "That looks really cool, and also horrifying. Do you normally look like this when you're dreaming? Uh, assuming this is a dream, by the way."
Ra'ven raises a hand and looks down at it with a sigh that comes out with a hiss, then says a bit dejectedly but with a much heaver infernal accent then normal, "Well, this could be worse...."
Kaylen Fisher: "Not that it's a problem!" She quickly puts up her hands. "I already knew that there was some hellfire going on, after all. It's just different to see it visualized."
Lucky: "Well, that's new."
Ra'ven: "No, no it's a problem... this is somewhat what I saw when I saw something tearing up my frends and family..." she sighs, "... so that I'm not doing that is good at least..."
Kaylen Fisher: "...Yeah, that is good." She hesitates, then moves forward, putting her hand on your shoulder (if that's ok. She'll stop short if not.). "I don't think you will, though."
Eileen eventually sits up, "All right then, and if you try we'll slap you around until you stop."
Ra'ven is fine with it, though ra is a bit more fuzzy and prickly then one would expect
=^v^=: (( a rather sharp fur, as opposed to soft ))
Eileen: "Regardless... Io is this that shared dream thing you were talking about that the soma induces?"
Kaylen Fisher: (Gonna move you over, k? Not sure how much longer you want to go, though I think we've done a decent amount for this week, so we're not behind.)
=^v^=: (( I saved the gaem either way ))
Kaylen Fisher: (Thanks. I appreciate it.)
Kaylen Fisher: (Thoughts?)
vonel: (( can stop here, need to get food ))
Io: "Titania, Somnin, Morphea, Njorun, Mamu, Caer Ibormeith..."
Riot: (( Oh wow that's cool looking ))
Io: (Pell actually recognizes the last one, incidentally, though not as the name of a deity. It was the name of a fortress of learning in the Reach, dedicated to preserving the learning of your nation against the terrible calamities that occasionally wrack a land adjacent to the Iron Empire.)
Riot: (( Was gonna say, looks like Reach speak ))

Ra'ven: someone posted a be gay do crimes meme with gushing over magic girls
Ganaroth: I mean, that tracks on both counts?
Riot: Spitballing ideas for my "AU Vi gets brought back to life" fic, and had the idea that Vander and a retired Grayson are gonna be a thing and Powder is gonna hate it
Ra'ven: evil lord of an intergalactic empire is probably a really terribe show but it's doing that thing that I'm a sucker for; having an almost novel take on generic slop anime
Ganaroth: Oh god, that'
Ganaroth: That's hilarious.
Riot: Like Powder finds them having drinks at the bar and smiling and she just squints at them, pointing an accusatory finger between them, saying "I don't like... Whatever this is." before stomping off
Ganaroth: Later: Powder invents soundproofing, for "reasons."
Riot: lmao not gonna go into that level of detail into Vander's private life but yeah just adding it in as a fun way to make the kids groan
Ganaroth: No worries, it were just a joke.
Riot: 15 year old Vi finding out: "Really? A cop Vander?"
Riot: Vander: "Need I remind you that your girlfriend has repeatedly mentioned how she wanted to be an enforcer one day, back when they still existed?" Vi: "She's not my-" she sputters, before giving up and crossing her arms, glaring at him
Ganaroth: I'm glad the slop anime is doing something good? I'm probably not going to watch it. I often try to watch those shows just for kicks, and then run out of steam by like episode 5 or 6. By that point, I've usually gotten the single joke that the series is based around.
Ganaroth: Hmm. So, what DID happen after they defunded the police?
Riot: Eh, I hadn't thought that far ahead but I figure community support officers or something similar
Riot: And Zaun, being independent, probably has its own organization
Ra'ven: this anime's single joke is that the guy who was isekai's is a horrible monster god who feed on suffering and said god did it to make this guy get everything he asked for in an ironic monkey paw fashion but I assume everything goes right for the guy etc w/e
Ganaroth: That actually reminds me, what is the political status of Zaun in this timeline? I don't believe anything firm was mentioned in the show itself.
Ra'ven: remove cops embrace batman
Ra'ven: but the cool telltale one or lego one
Riot: In my take on it, it's independent and they work with Piltover via trade deals etc
Ganaroth: Telltale Batman supremacy.
Ra'ven: out of curiousity, is Io currently non-natural origin?
Ganaroth: Makes sense. I totally imagine that Zaun would have a community-elected militia, or something of that nature.
Riot: lmao I'm reading a silly fic where Vi goes back in time to her bridge massacre era self and makes sure Powder has a good life, and she has become a sort of superhero of Zaun
Riot: I refer to it as the Time Traveling Zaunite Superhero Vi fic
Ganaroth: Honestly, I could get behind that. Does she still have the gauntlets? Because that would go a ways toward selling the vigilante aura.
Riot: I think she's currently 15 and wears a mask that Powder and Ekko invented so no one recognizes her (she kept them away from Vander until the most recent chapter, because she didn't want anything bad to happen to him), but I don't remember if she has any gauntlets
Ra'ven: just have the communist revolutionary vanguard help police
Ganaroth: If she's still 15, she probably doesn't have the gauntlets, since they weren't invented 'til later. I mean, it's not like they couldn't be written in, of course.
Ganaroth: They helped them by defunding them, so they could do something productive with their lives.
Riot: Yeah I was thinking the old mining gauntlets, she deffo doesn't have the hextech ones
Ganaroth: Oh, I don't think he said anything, but Von is getting some food, and will be back soon.
Riot: Ah okay
Ganaroth: I like this mod that gives extra functionality to summon spells, for people that don't like crowding the battlefield, or who are playing with full party mods or whatever, so that you're not leading an actual army around. Basically it lets you sacrifice the summoned creature for a unique buff based on whatever critter it was. It's cool. It's not all that balanced, though. Most of them are just useful and cool, but the ability you get from the Earth Myrmidon is so bonkers that you don't normally want other things, lol. Still, if they could fix that auto-pick, it's a cool addition.
vonel: It's almost done, sort of forget to eat this morning
Ganaroth: Is all good, no worries!
Riot: No worries
Riot: Oh
Riot: Oh I see now
Riot: I was wondering how the author was gonna reconcile Vi giving up her life with Cait to go back in time and do all of this over
Riot: It's because she was the only one left alive at the end of the battle
Riot: Cait, Ekko, Jinx, Sevika
Riot: All dead
Ganaroth: I guess a TPK would do it.
Riot: Yep
Ra'ven: what origin does Io count as?
Ganaroth: (Divine)

You find yourself amidst a dark landscape lit by the luminescence of the alien flora around you, and the bright pinprick of shining insects as they dart about in the warm breeze. Under the light of the unfamiliar celestial objects, you can hear the steady crash of waves all around you, calling attention to the edge of the precipice. It's a fairly small platform, leading upwards what, in the distince, looks like a misty portal, just bright enough to see in the dark. A faint whisper: "You worry. You agonize. You poison the present with thoughts of your future. Give them to me. I will share your burdens. We will share your burdens. A brave soul supported by others gains strength far beyond their own. Know peace. Know love. Know the end of fear."
Lucky: "Well that feels ominous."
Lilium: "Yeah."
Io looks about warily. "When someone tells me to let go of my fear, it immediately warns me that something frightening is about to happen. Damn this... Using her essence as an insensate recreational haze. It's disgusting."
Itzen: "This is a strange cave..." she shakes her head and looks toward Ra'ven's new look, "You, for your part, seemed to be a werewolf before, but perhaps that isn't the case.." a pause, "I do know a few litanies for keeping ones wits, but me speaking them is perhaps a bit of an.. imposition upon Those With Rules"
Itzen seems mostly saying that to Ra, but she glances at Lil and Io
Itzen: "Such thing are, after all, a bit of my job..."
Shudders, as though they touched something foul, and for a moment you see them separate: A dragon of shining metal, and the other multicolored, with five heads. The metal one looks sad, while the multiheaded one seems angered. "You have an interesting view of the world, Itzen, if you believe yourself free from rules. All beings are subject to them; the difference of gods is that we ARE them."
Io: (sorry, supposed to be /e of Io)
=^v^=: (( I just made up a silly term for the split between 'natural' and 'everything else' so ha ))
Itzen nods, "So you get the difference!"
Itzen: "The beings with rules core to their existance, vs the ones that exist around them."
Itzen: "I can speak with a sort of Authority that calls upon the Rules, in a general sense."
Io looks at you, curious. "I thought the difference was self-evident. We are composed of idea to a far greater degree that matter, while our opposites... well, not hard to figure out." They seem amused. "Authority, eh? Is that what you call it..."
Itzen: "I am, however, working with you, so using such things on you without asking seems slightly rude."
Itzen: "It shoudln't be, as it's merely a metaphysically different eloquence, but I have had those take offense."
Kaylen Fisher: "This is a really cool primer to the terminology of the word, and all, but we probably need to get out of here. Here's a thought: Are we actually physically here, or are our bodies just laid out on the floor? Because if it's the second one, we're on a serious time limit before someone slits our throats."
Ra'ven: "I locked the door at least."
Kaylen Fisher: (I meant to say terminology of the world, but it almost looks like it isn't a typo, lol)
Ra'ven: "Plus, dreamtimes are not the same as waking times, least for me..."
Kaylen Fisher: "Yeah, that'll slow them down, but there isn't a door made that can't eventually be breached." She purses her lips. "There could be some perceptual dilation, sure. That does work in dreams. But we don't have a way of knowing if, or how much."
Lucky: "I'm sure they have the keys."
Ra'ven: "It's a sealed room with 2 different sorts of locks and rather untouched, so it's possible it's difficult to get them."
Lilium: "Given who was in the room, maybe only Grey has the keys?"
Ra'ven: "Also Up is all messed up, where is the cieling? Where is the Wolf if it doesn't have it?", she says accidently omniously
Kaylen Fisher: "If I had a Hextant, I'd be able to measure the perturbation ratios, and at least figure out what direction any dilation might be..." She continues to absently mutter to herself.
Itzen: "It IS a dream, so such measurements from within would be suspect, correct?"
Io: "I would expect the Gray to have the key to this room, if nobody else."
Ra'ven: "They specifically said they don't need to come get us and we can just die there before we went in, so maybe we have a bit..."
Lilium: "We just need to keep going right? There has to be someone else here, even if it's just someone from our memories>'
Lilium looks around to see if there's some kind of path.
Ra'ven: "Hopefully not mine unless it's Vul..."
Kaylen Fisher: "Actually, that's the whole point of Hextants! You use it to measure ratios of arcane propagation within a volume of space. That rate is a constant in normal space, but the further removed, the greater the errors that begin to occur, slowing it down or speeding it up, accelerating, fragmenting... all sorts of things. That this is a dream world COULD mess with it, but unless this vision specifically thought to include those ratios, I would still see divergence." She then deflates. "I mean, if I had one."
Kaylen Fisher: "Of course, assholes who want to trap you in a dream without you knowing would just make it somehow impossible to get your hands on one. That's a lot easier than actually getting the ratios to show up correctly would be..."
To the south, a narrow path winds along the rocks. The dropoff is a good fourty or fifty feet on both sides, though one would drop you into the water, and the other into a twisted and lambent jungle. The path is wet and slick from the ocean spray, and where the rock seems level, crumbling sheets of salt cruch unsteadily under your feet.
Ra'ven: "Well, if we are here, maybe we can wake up that entombed woman...."
Ra'ven: "Moonbow was it? Since she was trapped asleep and this dream is powered by her right?"
Lilium frowns, "That's a bit dangerous..."
Ra'ven: "I mean our current situation is fatally trapped with no help coming, though?"
Ra'ven: "Plus she's Io's friend, sort of..."
Lilium: "i meant the cliff down."
Io: "Goddess of Dreams, Goddess of the Moon, Goddess of Illusion and Mischief, Sehanine Moonbow. Among other names. If we can wake her, I would. But I don't know how, and we must attempt to save ourselves, or we will never be able to help her. If we find something along the way, perhaps. Or... I don't know. But I'm unwilling to risk the Orb detonating simply because I wanted to search this dreamscape a little longer." They shake themselves. "She has existed in this form for some time now, it seems. Most likely she can wait a little longer." They seem dejected, despite their words.
Ra'ven: "Ya, so she probably could get us out if we woke her."
Io: "And yes, it seems very dangerous. If one can't fly, at least."
Ra'ven: A pause, "Does anyone know some OTHER way to wake up?"
Kaylen Fisher: "Is the Gray dude in here with us? They said he "conducts" this dream. That implies active participation, right?"
Ra'ven: "Suppose it'd be a bit silly to ask Io for help if we were currently swallowed by a dragon they created..."
Io: "There is no dragon here that... Oh, a metaphor."
Lilium: "If he is in here could we try and defeat him? Maybe that would wake us up."
Kaylen Fisher: "Well, I wasn't really implying that we should ask him nicely. If he's controlling it actively, there's every chance that it falls apart without him, isn't there?" She points at Lilium. "Yeah, that's what I'm getting at."
Itzen: "It's a bit strange as this isn't exactly a plesent place."
Io: "That, I think depends on what you are used to, and probably what part of the dream you're in. For me, this scenery is far more comforting and familiar than anything I've seen in your world."
Lucky: "Color's hurtin' my eyes."
Ra'ven: "I mean it's dangerous, but I do like salt water... the lack of Wolf is unnerving but you can just not look up..."
Ra'ven: "it's intresting at least, wouldn't say relaxing..."
Lilium: "I... I actually kind of like it."
Io: "You would, in fact, grow accustomed to it." They gesture with their snout. "Sehanine is a fey goddess, one of the great rulers of the Seldarine. This landscape recollects the feywild... the Land Between the Winds, as I've heard Patience call it. It is a memory of a natural world that no longer is, but was always meant to be." The expression isn't human, but is also clearly a sad smile. "If it seems beautiful to you, Lilium, it may be because you mourn the death of the intended shape of things."
Itzen frowns slightly at that, then goes to check the footing on the south path carefully...
Lilium nods
Ra'ven: "Oh, that place still exists in a few places..."
Ra'ven: "Unless it's supposed to be Wolfless I guess..'
Io: "In my world, it did not simply exist in a few places. It existed in all places, and none, like a bright reflection of all the world just out of sight. The fabric of your world is too stable... though I find that word altogether too postitive. Stagnant, perhaps, would be better. It was wolfless, for the most part, then. I have no idea what the little attenuated pockets of it are like now."
You're able to pick your way across the path with a little effort. It's slow going, but not dangerous as long as you're paying attention. You don't get more than twenty-five feet in before you hear the whispers again.
Phobos 1: "This gate has been prepared for you."
Phobos 1: "Approach with intent, and the dream shall reflect your just reward."
Phobos 2: "Or stay. Absorb the stars, the silver of the past. Bask in acceptance, and slowly sink into the depths."
Phobos 2: "So many others wait to welcome you. Acceptance everlasting."
Eileen: "Stay and live in false bliss, or try and leave and be judged... s'well."
Itzen humphs at that, "Garmera accepts everything and everyone, this place without Her is no place to stay.." and keeps walking forward, a bit of an edge in her steps, "Come on."
Itzen: "I am not paying most of you to sink into the Storm."
Phobos 2: "You have faith in Garmera. But there is a sliver of uncertainty, is there not? Garmera has never spoken to you. Never looked you in the eye. Never reached down to move the pieces of your life. You take power, but so do so many followers of shallow and venal philosophies."
Phobos 1: "There are other things that are more real, even here. The fruit you eat here will be sweet, the nights warm, and the companionship real. Garmera will never sate your hunger, will never shelter you from the cold, never hold your hand against the fear."
Pell: "There's such a thing as 'too good to be true', and that sounds like it fits the bill."
Itzen frowns more, "And what need of I for her to do those? Having companions to rely on to share hope and fear is the Third Gift."
Itzen: "What uncertainy I have is my specific place in the world."
Phobos 2: "A collection of half-made dolls, none of whom know themselves, or know their world. The meaning in your lives is frozen dust, ready to scatter at a breath. You will never find the answers in the waking world." The voice suddenly sounds close to your ear. "You'll find more truth here than in that husk of cobbled-together maxims, formed out of desperation in a world that no longer listens to prayers."
Phobos 1: "Think not that this is too good to be true. Recognize, instead, that your life is too terrible to believe."
Itzen: "This place is made from dreams and trickery; I doubt the truth is obvious."
Lucky: "My life's pretty good, actually. But thanks!"
Eileen: "That might be true, but I'd rather confornt the problems and deal with them."
Ra'ven giggles slightly, which sounds extremely strange coming from her sinister form, "I mean, I somewhat recently decided to try not running away from life, so you just missed me strange voice..."
At this point, anyone who wishes to advance forward should make some kind of check. It's hard to tell exactly how it works, but as you seek to brush off the whispered voices you can see the path in front of you waver. When you resist, it flashes into momentary clarity. When you refute, it seems to straighten, as though the world itself is vulnerable to your words and thoughts.
Lucky:
  : Rolled 27. Perception
Pell:
  : Rolled 20. Perception
Itzen humphs and recites the gifts, her words, however, carrya bit of a profound weight to them to certain party memebers
Itzen:
  True Tongue of Calamity
The weight of her words on those from Elsewhere is heavy
Trigger: She makes an intimidate or diplomancy check against a target that isn't natural origin
Effect: She uses arcana instead with a +2 bonus to the check
Eileen:
  : Rolled 17. Intimidate
=^v^=: (( in this case I think she's using them diplomatically, as an argument for what 'is' ))
Itzen:
  : Rolled 33. Arcana
=^v^=: (( as a fun example of the gap, that check assuming the same dice roll, would be a 19 for diplomancy vs natural creatures ))
Phobos 1: (Both Lucky and Pell are able to find the way forward. You can move your speed, or take a different move action. Eileen anger fails to quell the dream, however, and the pathway seems to dance out of your way as it nervously avoids you. Itzen calls on her magics to briefly stabilize it.)
Lilium:
  : Rolled 38. Nature
Phobos 1: (Sorry, you can start that move action at the beginning of the path.)
=^v^=: (( I suppose Kay would probably be trying to study the dream via arcana since she absoutly said she was before ))
=^v^=: (( i do not know what actions Io would take ))
The flora... even ethereal, unnatural flora, bends to your command Lilium can either take that move action, or do something exotic with the plants. Up to you.
Kaylen Fisher:
  : Rolled 27. Arcana
Kaylen Fisher: (Kaylen manages.)
Io:
  : Rolled 29. Intimidate
=^v^=: (( what's the starting line anyways? ))
Io: (The start of the path.)
"This is nothing but a beautiful mockery. A stolen vision, soon to die."
=^v^=: (( Io's 8 goign to be fun ))
Io: (?)
=^v^=: (( move speed, for purposes of closing the gap ))
Io: (Kay, go for it, controller.)
Ra'ven shakes her head, "If it's a pretty dream I'm far to scary to be here, after all.."
Ra'ven:
  : Rolled 37. Intimidate
Io: (No joke)
=^v^=: (( question, free action move okay? ))
Io: (What does that mean?)
Ra'ven:
  Go really fast
 Right, fast time now.
Effect: She moves her speed.
Io: (Yeah, you can use a free action power.)
=^v^=: (( we can move action to move or move action, can I move+that? ))
Io: (You can use a move action, and you can also use free actions as normal.)
=^v^=: (( also Ra is visually werewolfy and probably using the power but should she still get the bonus speed from i tt? ))
Ra'ven:
  WOLF...?
Okay the large spikey jackel is standing up now and my what sharp claws it has...
Effect: She has sharp teeth, horrific clawed hands, also has +2 to speed. She can change back and shift 1 square as a minor action.
Apply She is a horned wolf/jackel/woman, has +2 to speed and can use wolf powers.
Io: (I'm sorry, but you have to tell me you're in an encounter power form that you can't keep on continuously.)
As you approach the dimly lit portal, a pair of figures shimmer into being, like folds of night unveiling. The watch you, and one says. "They seek escape, back to the nightmare, back to the danger, back to the ruin."
The other speaks. "A great unkindness, to allow such a thing. It is better here. It is complete in a way your world can never be. The dream of perfection, against the reality of entropy. No. Too many depend on this." It seems to raise a hand, though it mostly appears like curtain of dark velvet against the night. "You will not condemn them."
At this point, is an init situation, unless you do something to pre-empt it.
Itzen actually does have a thing to shout at that
Itzen: "This building, this town and everything in it will be burned clean by the Tear of Gamera if we do not stop it, then nobody will be here to know this place!"
Pell: "It's impossible to fix the world if you hide away from it."
=^v^=: (( what's the range on Elieen's +init? ))
Eileen:
  Combat Leader
Effect: You and each ally within 10 squares who can see and hear you gain a +2 power bonus to initiative.
Expert Combat Leader: The bonus to initiative from Combat Leader increases to +3.
vonel: (( stops at Kay and Lucky unless I'm alowed to move her to at least the staret line of the path ))
=^v^=: (( is Eil at least at the starting line? ))
Phobos 1: (Sorry, there were some guys who weren't on the map, and I needed to retrieve them. -.-)
Phobos 1: (Yeah, Eileen can get to the starting line.)
=^v^=: (( so everyone but ra ))
vonel: (( everyone by Ra ))
Phobos 1: (Itzen and Pell can both make diplomacy checks immediately prior to init.)
Itzen:
  True Tongue of Calamity
The weight of her words on those from Elsewhere is heavy
Trigger: She makes an intimidate or diplomancy check against a target that isn't natural origin
Effect: She uses arcana instead with a +2 bonus to the check
Itzen:
  : Rolled 29. Arcana
Phobos 1: (Sigh....)
Pell:
  : Rolled 19. Diplomacy
Phobos 1: (I will never not make a mistake.)
Riot: (( rip ))
The creatures seem unconvinced.
Itzen's supernatural speech appears to have some effect; one of the creatures visibly hesitates even as the other moves to attack.
Ra'ven has received initiative.
Riot: (( which one hesitated? ))
=^v^=: (( still need to make checks to move forwards? ))
Phobos 1: (You do need to make a check, yes. Phobos 1 hesitated.)
=^v^=: (( maybe re-sort init ))
=^v^=: (( sorry forgot to do io and kay ))
Phobos 1: (Okay, not sure what changed.)
Riot: (( Eh I'll hold on using that Daily, dunno if we're gonna have to fight Gray later ))
Phobos 1: (ah)
Riot: (( Oh it was 3 not 2. Eh whatevs ))
Phobos 1: (Seems likely-ish. 3? What?)
=^v^=: (( the bonus to init ))
Phobos 1: (ah.)
Ra'ven continues to be the big bad wolf!
Ra'ven:
Phobos 1: (Nyooooom.(
Ra'ven:
  : Rolled 28. Intimidate
Your force of personality lashes the terrain, preventing it from slipping away.
Riot: (( Oh Lucky and Pell are out of order in the initiative window ))
Riot: (( yay thanks ))
Phobos 1: (Ok, do any other characters need to alter their initiative before I go on?)
=^v^=: (( nope on my side ))
Phobos 1: (Von, yours?)
Lilium: nopw
Phobos 1: (Ok then.)
Ra'ven then moves again to go to the portal hopefully!
As soon as Ra'ven steps to that point, she feels the disorienting instability of the place recede, giving her sure footing and allowing her to act as normal. At the same time, you feel a tremendously uncomfortable feeling as you get near the strange creatures, but you're able to swiftly avoid them. In front of you, the portal stands like dimly lit mist. It doesn't seem to be closed or locked.
Phobos 1: (That point is right there.)
Ra'ven: "Should I go ahead?"
You're essentially shouting the words from a distance at this point, and nobody has a lot of time to answer. You can't see her expression, but Kay's voice is testy. "Yeah, jump throught the strange portal by yourself, great idea."
Lilium has received initiative.
Ra'ven: I've finished my turn. Ayalin THINGS HERE
Phobos 1: (I mean, you CAN jump through. That's just Kaylen's opinion, because she is naturally cautious around space-warping magic.)
Lilium:
  : Rolled 34. Nature
Phobos 1: (I at least TRY to have characters answer based on what their opinions would be, rather than what I personally think is correct.)
Lilium keeps bossing the plants around
Again, the plants bend to your will.
=^v^=: (( I mean Ra would listen to Kay about just leaving ))
Phobos 1: (Is all good. I'm just being clear that just because Kay doesn't like it doesn't mean it's not an option.)
Kaylen Fisher has received initiative.
Lilium: I've finished my turn.
=^v^=: (( I'm just saying if Vul shouted "No that's dumb" she'd fact Phobos and walk backwards into portal-hell ))
=^v^=: (( face/whatever ))
Phobos 1: (Lilium is also free to use free actions, if she has any.)
vonel: (( nothing that would be helpful sadly ))
Phobos 1: (Ah well. Happens.)
Phobos 1: (Kaylen. May do SOMETHING.)
Kaylen Fisher keeps trying to magic stabilize moving forwards after the crazy fast werejackel
Kaylen Fisher:
  : Rolled 30. Arcana
Phobos 1: (Hmm, though. Are you really a werejackal, or are you actually a Jacklewere? -Actual thing in 2nd edition. It did nothing that a specific lycanthrope character from Ravenloft didn't do better. In any case, Kayle succeeds, of course. It's actually not an easy check, but Kay has good arcana.)
Kaylen Fisher actually runs!
=^v^=: (( is running allowed or is there a terrible price?? ))
Phobos 1: (The specific character was a werehuman house cat, which is a more interesting concept as a singular entity than as a whole fucking species. Opinion. Running is A-OK) Oh, shit, hold on. It's hasn't ACTUALLY been relevant yet, but I need to put up the aura effect that Ra noticed.)
Phobos 1:
  Trepidation
Effect: Any enemy that enters the aura must make a saving throw or be forced to spend the remainder of their movement moving away from the Phobos, provoking opportunity attacks as normal.
Apply Any enemy that enters the aura must make a saving throw or be forced to spend the remainder of their movement moving away from the Phobos, provoking opportunity attacks as normal.
=^v^=: (( it occurs to me I could make a run button! ))
Kaylen Fisher haz ran'd
Kaylen Fisher:
  Aegis of Shielding
Effect: Target one creature in the burst. You mark the target. The target remains marked until you use this power against another target. If you mark other creatures using other powers, the target is still marked. A creature can be subject to only one mark at a time. A new mark supersedes a mark that was already in place. If the marked target makes an attack that doesn't include you as a target, it takes a –3 penalty to attack rolls. If that attack hits and the marked target is within 10 squares of you, you can use an immediate interrupt to reduce the damage dealt by that attack to any one creature by an amount equal to [5 + ConBonus]. At 11th level, reduce the damage dealt by [10 + ConBonus]. At 21st level, reduce the damage dealt by [15 + ConBonus]

Phobos 1: (It feels like the EMOTION of the dreamspace thickens around them; a shell of fear and anxiety that you have difficulty passing through.)
Phobos 1: (nodnod)
Kaylen Fisher: I've finished my turn.
=^v^=: (( fwiw 'run' is a move action +2 squares but makes you take -4 to attacks and grant combat advantage till start of next turn ))
Riot: (( Oh. Big trade off there ))
=^v^=: (( it IS, which is why it's not often used ))
Phobos 1: (Yeah. It's essentially a "shit, moving faster this round really is the most important thing I can do" button.)
Phobos 1:

Riot: (( Ah. I do not know the penalty off hand ))
Phobos 2: (It just functions as concealment, which is -2)
Riot: (( Got it ))
Phobos 2: (The other one still hit, though.)
Itzen has received initiative.
Itzen notices the darkness and brings the light of the wolf
Phobos 2: (Also, it's now 5, so when we get to the top of the round, maybe it's a good time?)
Phobos 2: (BOOM LIGHT!)
Itzen:
  Wolflight: Eyes Open
 A blade of piercing light
Effect: All damage delt with this sword is radiant, as a free action once per round she can swap modes
Brilliant: This sword shines with bright or dim light of the color of the current phase of the wolf out to 20 squares at Itzen's behest but at lest 1 square
Umbra: This does not work during a Umbral phase

Ganaroth: Getting sober is extremely difficult. You're doing great. Getting past the first week give you some momentum.
Ganaroth: Anyways, you folks ready?
Riot: It's been ups and downs but I feel physically a lot better
Riot: Yep!
Ganaroth: (ugh. I'll have to detox from weed before visiting my sister sometime this year. Alabama hasn't legalized, so I can't take anything with me. Probably couldn't anyway, since I never check baggage... and detoxing is unpleasant for me, because cannibinoid hyperemesis.)
Riot: Oof, I hope it goes as well as can be
Ganaroth: (ultimately much less difficult than going sober, though. So you still "win.")
Riot: It's not a competition!
Riot: lol
Ra'ven: technically alabama allows medical weed tinctures
Last time, you fought and defeated a pair of fear spirits who had appeared to bar your path. As the second one falls, the mist shrouding the gateway brightens, casting off the shadow that had shrouded it. The light, however, brings little comfort. The ghostly blue luminescence is more unsettling than anything else, and you can feel a something like a chill in the air... but it's inside you, as though the cold touches nothing but your own bodies and minds.
Ganaroth: (Medical tinctures aren't actually helpful, though. I've used them, and haven't noticed anything.)
=^v^=: (( also speciffically peach only gummies ))
Riot: That was my understanding too
Riot: Ewww peach
Ra'ven remains shaken, looking like she wants to beat up the shades further, before grabbing Kaylen's arm, "Sorry, it's just... that was pretty unplesent..."
Ganaroth: (Wait, alabama allow peach gummies? 0.o And... not other flavors? The hell?)
Kaylen Fisher looks at Ra'ven, but doesn't push her away. "Yeah. It's like I could feel all the things that have ever freaked me out. And they were here with me." She shivers. "I wonder if those things actually exist, or if they're just here?"
Io: "I don't remember them from my time, but your world has so many new things that I sometimes despair of learning them."
Eileen: "if there naitive then they'll probably be back, hard to kill a dream."
Kaylen Fisher: "And probably at the worst time too. Got it."
Itzen takes a deep breath to center herself, despite it being a dream so breathing is silly, "That thing you did, Elieen, where you focused the path..."
Eileen: "Don't ask... I'm not even sure how I did that."
Lucky: "Either way, I appreciate it. That whole 'not being able to tell if you're about to walk off a cliff' thing kinda sucked."
Itzen turns her gaze to Io, "Do you know what that was, you seemed to also do it for a bit?"
Io: "A thing often done within the Astral Sea, though I assume it no longer exists in this strangely unified cosmos. It was the realm of concept, thought, and memory, and any physical traits were themselves products of the mind. Manipulating your environment through force of will is the primary way of getting from "place" to "place" within that plane."
Io: "I Eileen do what she did, and tried to do what I rember doing. It worked."
Io: I saw*
Itzen: "It seemed like a rememberd moment to me is why." She shakes her head, "That crystal that brought us here, I wonder if it keeps that friend of yours here as well."
Eileen looks over at Io, "Maybe it was..."
Io: "...Well, as I said, it's what I remember doing. There are traces of home mixed in. My world. The Seven Mounting Heavens of Celestia, and the Transcendent Wheel. And the ache for their loss."
Itzen: "I do not fancy fighting the Grey in a place where it's in control of that realm's physicality. Do you think you could use your friendship to, perhaps, try to make a way to commune with this Moonbow person? If it's her power in the first place, perhaps we can have her revoke some of it?"
Pell smiles sadly at Io, "Makes being away from home for two and a half years seem like nothing."
Lilium points to the portal, "Won't we just end up fighting him in the waking wolrd if we go though there?"
Lucky: "That's what I'd assume."
Io: "Time is one thing, but the loss of a home never heals until a new one is found. I respect your pain, and sympathize."
Ra'ven: "That portal wakes us up? Seems like it jost goes somewhere else unplesent."
Lilium shrugs, "I just guessed, really it could do any thing."
Kaylen Fisher: "No way to know. You can't just figure out where a portal goes without some fairly powerful shit, and if it's just a dream construct, even that might now work."
Lucky: "I mean, not sure why those two dream ghosts or whatever would be fighting to keep us from going through it, otherwise."
Kaylen Fisher: *not
Io: "Well, who wants to be the canary in this mine?" They pause. "...I used to have seven of them, so I would like to retract the metaphor. It's disturbing."
Lilium: "I can go."
Itzen: "That last thing punished us when we were alone, I can go with her as well."
Lilium: "Though I'm not to sure if we'll be able to comunate back once were though."
Kaylen Fisher: "It's a good idea anyway. Getting stuck alone would suck. If you can, though, hop back over in precisely five seconds. Knowing if you can come back is good, and I also want to check for temporal offset."
Kaylen Fisher: "If there's any discrepency, that would increase the chances that this whole construct is running on altered time."
Lilium: "Assuming we can come back once were on the other side."
Itzen: "It will potentially show we can't if that's the case, unless the difference is quite a bit."
Lilium: "True."
Ra'ven: "You could poke it with a stick or the like, see if it pulls you through or something sinister or just is a gate."
Kaylen Fisher: "Eh...wouldn't work if it like a real one. Gates aren't particularly stable; getting them to actually work at all over distance is tough going. They don't work exactly like doors, and you can't put PART of an object through. Until the whole thing is through, nothing pops out the other side."
Io looks at her oddly. "Another difference, then."
Lilium looks at Itzen, "Ready?"
Ra'ven frowns a bit, still having not released the arm, "Perhaps someone who knows less about gates should try it. Its a dream."
Kaylen Fisher: "...fuck. I guess I screwed up *that* possibility."
Itzen nods, "Might as well, so 5 seconds and we hop back."
Itzen and Lilium step through, like walking through a fog bank. Moments later, that fog partially clears. The area is still obscured by a slightly glowing mist, which dimly illuminates the scene of a giant graveyard. Willow trees bent under the weight of hanging spanish moss dot the landscape, interpersed with headstones, markers, and mausoleums. A beaten dirt path leads forward, and you can see some kind of orange light glowing on the other side of the fog, not strong enough to full cut though. Behind you, you can see a veil of dim purple mist.
Lilium: "Creepy..."
Kaylen Fisher: (Not capable of making macros, but capable of stealing and altering existing ones.)
=^v^=: (( ? ))
Kaylen Fisher: (Wait, did you not see the Nudge? Aw man. I guess I was lying, then.)
Itzen: "We should return before it throws off my student's timing"
Lilium: "Right."
=^v^=: (( the nudge the players button you made? it's probably set to gm only send.. ))
Kaylen Fisher: (Yup. I'm too dumb to actually do things. I knew it!)
Kaylen Fisher: "...14, 15... Oh, hey there you are! So, if you didn't delay for whatever reason, there's definitely an offset. Could actually be good for us."
Io: "What did you see?"
Lilium: "Graveyard."
Ra'ven: "Oh, that's good, perhaps there will be some crows."
Lilium: "There was a light, but couldn't see any thing else other then... graveyard stuff?"
Kaylen Fisher: "Yeah? Ok, at least you weren't attacked immediately, or choked out on poison gas."
Lilium: "Shall we then, no reason to keep standing around here."
Kaylen Fisher: "Those are important things to know! Yeah, let's get out of here."
The party moves through the gate, finding themselves in the graveyard that Lilium described.
Lucky: "On to the spooky graveyard we go!"
Eileen looks around once on the other side, "At least this makes sense given where we were in the waking world."
Io: "Hmm. You described it as a graveyard. Is there a particular reason you used that word, rather than "cemetary?"
Kaylen Fisher responds to Eileen. "All the people this asshole killed with his poison, you mean?"
Lilium shrugs, "Not really, other then it's creepy."
Eileen: "I meant in her tomb."
Ra'ven looks for black winged bird friends, "I mean graveyards are outside in the grass and dirt, cemetarys are fancier right?"
Kaylen Fisher: "Ah. Well, that makes more sense. I guess I was looking for a metaphor where one wasn't needed."
There don't appear to be any crows here. If they follow the same logic as real crows, they'd be hibernating, waiting for another Gold cycle.
Kaylen Fisher: (Crows are pretty firmly diurnal birds.)
Ra'ven is sad, though I mean there isn't a wolf here right
Eileen: "I guess we should go check out that light... and get jumped by something. Probably something undead."
Io: (It's dark af, so it's hard to tell whether there is a wolf or not.)
Itzen: "Well, that being the case, I might as well let them know we are here?"
Io: "They usually are, yes, but that's not the criteria." They look about themselves. "A cemetary is essentially secular. Any and all may be buried there, so long as whatever applicable laws are followed. A graveyard, though?" They sniff the air a bit, wrinkling their nostrils. "A graveyard is attached to a church or temple, and reserved only for their parishioners." They pause. "Er... I'm not sure you have those, here. Places where the gods are worshipped. Considering where we are, as Eileen said..."
Eileen starts off down the path, "Take a look at the headstones as we go, may be well get a clue."
Itzen flips her darksaber back to lightsaber, though limiting it to 5 squares instead of 20
Io: (gonna move you over there)
=^v^=: (( background is missing ))
=^v^=: (( plz set visible ))

Lucky: "Well this isn't creepy at all."
Kaylen Fisher: "Yeah.."
Ra'ven: "I mean it's not really... kinda nice in a way..."
Ra'ven: "Orange and purple are gentile colors, lots of moss and life for a place of the dead..."
Kaylen Fisher: (Gentile colors? Oy vey...)
Lilium: "It's just going back to nature, no one is taking care of it."

=^v^=: (( hominims! ))
vonel: (( back and I did a dumb ))
vonel: (( put my bake ware into my oven as I was preheating it ))
vonel: (( luckly it doesn't hurt any thing ))
Ra'ven: "I mean that's good right? If nobody remembers the graves served their purpose already..."
Eileen sees several tombstones as she goes. Hanali Celanil... Sashelas... Enoreth... The inscriptions on several of them change as you walk past. Rillifane becomes Simbi, becomes Aranyani, becomes Geb, becomes Silvanus, becomes Sucellus. Corellon becomes Oberon, becomes Kyroni Shaemalas, becomes Solinari.... Thousands of names for hundreds of the dead, stretching off into the fog and darkness.
Io gives Ra'ven the angriest, most offended look that you've ever seen on a dragon's face. "I will allow our friendship to shield you, otherwise I would have attacked. The purpose of a grave is remembrance, not forgetting. And I cannot, *will* not, accept the vanishing of my kith and kin into nothing."
Eileen rubs her eyes, "To many names."
Io: "Let's leave as quickly as possible I no longer wish to be in this company tonight."
Lilium frowns, "sorry.."
Io: "You aren't the one who said it."
Io: "Your apology isn't required."
Io walks ahead, pointedly ignoring Ra'ven as they pass, and keeping about 30 feet between you as you walk forward.
Ra'ven hmms at that, "Ah, you know them then."
Io ignores you.
Riot: (( ooooof ))
Io: (I mean, Ra basically said "nah, it's okay that nobody remembers your people." Io really has no reason to interpret that charitably.)
Eileen contuines down the path weapon out ready for the ambush.
Io: (Myself, I understand that Ra didn't mean it like that.)
Io: (This is Io being pissed, not Ganaroth)
=^v^=: (( good, ra actually means it as it's a testiment to even loss eventally fading, but that sorta doesn't work super well when it's the dragon's friends xP ))
Io: (Yeah, I totally get that. But like I said, given the context they're seeing red at the moment. Trying to explain that you genuinely didn't know is something that may have to come a bit later.)
=^v^=: (( as a 'for the folx at home' of the sorta tone Ra had ))
Riot: (( fwiw Lucky is aware of the awkwardness but doesn't seem at all bothered, whereas Pell is clearly uncomfortable as fuck lol ))
The party walks forward into the fog. The light of Itzen's sword mingles with the bluish glow of the mist, combining into a sickly green around the edges. The mist grows thicker, and all of a sudden, Lucky sees a shadow race past, too obscured to see much of it's form and moving faster than a man sprinting. Despite that, there's barely a sound as it goes by; a bare whispered hiss.
Io: (sorry Pell!)
vonel: (( brb again ))
Io: (S'okay!)
Io: (actually, Imma grab a little thing, kay?)
vonel: (( making orange chicken and got to the point were I had to orange the chicken ))
Lucky: "Oh, good. We got things skittering through the fog."
Riot: (( Ohhh orange chicken good ))
Io: (nomnomnom)
vonel: (( indeed ))
vonel: (( need to get back up in a moment or two to pull everything out so I can eat. ))
Io: (no worries, can wait.)
Itzen: "At least you see them."
Lucky: "Sort of? Creepy ass shadows flickering through the fog is about it."
vonel: (( all right I got my orange chicken and rice, I'm good to go. ))
Itzen: "Them being actual shadows would be unplesent."
Incidentally, across thousands of miles of open sky, the group containing Vul is still en route to their destination when he feels the Pen twitching in his pouch. As it does so, words begin forming on the wall of Vul's cabin, written in an elegant, looping hand. "The Grave of Memories, and the Cradle of Dreams. That which is forgotten can be born again." With that, the pen stops moving, and the progress of words ceases. A faint wisp of smoke, and the thin smell of burnt wood waft from the letters.
Riot: (( O.O ))
Back in the graveyard...
=^v^=: (( vul does not exist in accessable token form to be O.O about that ))
Io: (It's okay, I can assume it.)
A voice in the dark, distorted but with a clear mocking tone. "So... you found this place, then. I wonder why you came here. How odd." This time Itzen does see the shadow, moving close to her side, showing no more than an a vague shape. Just enough to see that the figure isn't humanoid. "Felt you enter, but didn't think I'd see you." The voice chuckles unpleasantly. "This part is dangerous, children. Are you sure you want to be here?"
Itzen: "Here is but a stop on our journey; it is not our desitnation. Who are you?"
Chrysoberyl: "Come now. Don't you remember the feel of me? It hasn't been THAT long."
"I remember you. The little group of mice tip-toeing through a city of traps. But so, so helpful for all that."
Chrysoberyl: (huh. Didn't realize I'd typed /e)
=^v^=: (( didn't only Io and Ra directly talk to the dragon? ))
Chrysoberyl: (make an insight check, please!)
Itzen:
  : Rolled 11. Insight
Chrysoberyl: (Itzen is just confused, then. Why is he talking like you should know him?)
Chrysoberyl: (Also, Io didn't talk to him.)
Chrysoberyl: (Io very much didn't)
=^v^=: (( guess it might have just been Ra xP ))
Chrysoberyl: (I think Lucky might also have been there. I thought I remembered two people.)
Riot: (( Lucky spoke to him ))
Chrysoberyl: (aha!)
Riot: (( I was just looking up their convo ))
vonel: (( I know Lilium wasn't even there, and Eileen didn't talk to him nor was she part of the dream he showed every one. ))
Itzen: "I would... expect to remember such a person? But I do not recall you, no."
Chrysoberyl: (Right. Anyone who wasn't there doesn't recognize this voice. Lucky and Ra definitely do, though.)
Riot: (( found it ))
Ra'ven perks up a bit, "Oh! It's you! Hey, I forgot a thing since you were in the dark but..." she rifles through her pouch and pulls out a small crystal, frowning slightly cause it's black, "Here, have this!"
Lucky: "Ah. You again. The one who knows that language I spoke."
Chrysoberyl pauses. "Am I truly so forgettable? I must try to make greater impression in the future." The voice actually sounds a bit sad at that. "Oh... well, look at that. Toss it over, and I'll let you know some things." The voice shifts, now speaking from the opposite side. "Oh yes. Familiar, though not often spoken these days. A shame, really. Not quite as dead as *these* fellows, but mostly still and silent even so. Why, have you been chattering to yourself again?"
=^v^=: (( it's a piece of quartz but dreamworld and her sorta sinisterness has made it blackened almost jet-like ))
Ra'ven tosses
Lucky: "Not recently, no. That I remember, anyway."
Ra'ven: "Ah ya, this is that dragon.. Chrysoberyl, right?" she gestures to the spot the voice moved to as an attempt at introductions
A set of bony talons snakes out of the darkness, plucking the crystal from the air. "Ah.... I want to know what will happen to this when I leave. It could be anything, really." A sigh. "Oh, a pity. Still having trouble connecting? Even after you found the orphan? I really thought that would have jogged something in you." The voice becomes puzzled as Ra'ven speaks. "Hmm. No, something strange is going on here. YOU at least should certainly remember me."
Chrysoberyl: (he is speaking to you each in the order you spoke to him, if it isn't clear)
Ra'ven nods, "You were the shadow who spoke to me at the prision right?"
Lilium: "Is he a friend of yours Ra?"
Ra'ven: "I mean, he helped me find the spot the teleport blocker was hidden.... and about where all the other people were taken."
Ra'ven: "And you really should give a dragon a gem if you meet them for luck."
Lucky scrunches her face in confusion. "The orphan?"
Chrysoberyl: "Well, I wasn't a shadow. I don't THINK I was a shadow. That was some time ago. I believe I was a human at the time."
Chrysoberyl: "Hmm. If you are having trouble remembering, I shouldn't say much more. Or, rather, I *won't* say much more, other than to let you know that there are a couple of other speakers of that language in Si En Kelar. Si En Kelar IS still open at this point, yes? Sorry, one of those things I shouldn't say." He chuckles again.
Ra'ven frowns, "I mean it was a few days ago.."
Ra'ven: "Not the open, but when we met..."
Pell elbows Lucky, pointing at his own face in exasperation.
Ra'ven: "I suppose my mo-" she stops, "I mean the powers that conspire in Si En Kelar could have closed it after we left."
Lucky hisses quietly, "You didn't tell me you were an orphan, fuckass!"
Pell: "I also didn't tell you where I was really from, keep up, Luck."
Pell: "How the fuck did they know that, though?"
Ra'ven: "Maybe he's from the same place?"
Pell: "Even so, how he knew me is what I'm questioning."
Lucky: "You assume he means you. Maybe he means ... her."
Pell: "Not an orphan."
Ra'ven gestures at the fog, "I mean you could ask? He's right here and is the only person who'd know..."
Chrysoberyl laughs "Oh, I know where you are!" He seems delighted. "You're in an awful lot of trouble, and not just because you're here, in this place of buried memories. Even now, right this very minute, men with wings and blades are inching towards you. Slowly, oh so slowly. One heartbeat for every hundred of yours. But your time is limited, and their's is not." He pauses. "..When those blades slide into you, do you think you'll be able to feel them, even in there? If so, the pain will streeeeeetched out along your nerves."
Pell sighs. "Okay, fine. Assuming you're referring to me, how did you know any of those things about me?"
Lucky: "Okaaaaay, I think that means we probably oughta start makin' moves to get out of here."
Eileen shorts, "All the more reason for use to not stand around listening to you."
Chrysoberyl: "Hmm. How to explain. I know, a lie! I could feel you, lost one. The taste of your longing."
vonel: (( *snorts ))
Ra'ven titls her head, "I mean, why are you here? You likely escaped the prision, this is a bit odd to escape to I'd guess?"
Pell: "What do you mean, a lie?"
Lucky grabs Pell's collar, and starts yanking him forward. "If we're being targeted right now, we need to fucking go. "
Eileen keeps going
Ra'ven: "Oh! Actually! Woud you like to help us get out of this trap?" she asks the dragon, "Since we helped you get out of yours?"
Ra'ven asks that in the tone of an offer instead of an obligation
Chrysoberyl: The shadow moves again, now standing between you and the light ahead. Even that is enough to cast a dim silhouette. It seems draconic, but slashes of light poke through the body, as though it isn't quite solid. "I agree, you should make some moves to get out of here. Good luck." He laughs. "Oh, little hellhound. Your perspective on things is hilarious. And... well, you know what a lie is, don't you? I'm telling you what definitely didn't happen." They seem amused. "Or maybe I'm from the future, and I just remember you from another meeting. Or maybe... Well, I'll see if you can figure it out." A pause. "Hmm. I could do that. Indeed, I could do that. But... well, you were the key that was going to come along eventually. If you didn't let me out, I'd just have waited until the right person did. But if I don't help you here, it seems as though you'd be in fairly dire straights. I think what you did for me is maybe half as important as me helping you here. How about you give me a little more aid, to sweeten the deal? I'll need a flight off of this island." He continues without addressing why a dragon would need a flight. "You'll get me one. I'll leave with you, we'll shake hands, and that will be that, until next time."
Chrysoberyl: (tl;dr: What does god need with a starship?)
Ra'ven: "For you? And to where?"
Chrysoberyl: "Yes. I'll have someone waiting for me in Si En Kelar, so you won't have to go out of your way."
Ra'ven looks to the party, "I mean do you think we can get a dragon a flight out of here?"
Lucky: "Considering the last time we met, he passed as a human, I think it would be doable."
Eileen glances at Io
Io eyes Eileen cagily, then sighs, apparently realizing that the dragon would have heard them speaking anyway. "I would be willing. But you will honor the pledge reciprocity, or you will be taken to account."
Io: *pledge OF reciprocity."
Itzen: "A flight with us back to Sie En Kelar. Will you be a dragon shape or the like?"
Chrysoberyl: "Done! And no, I'm not surprised that you know what that is, wyrmling. In any case, I'll be in human shape. A child, age six or seven, with blonde hair and green eyes, will come up to you as you are purchasing tickets, and tug on YOUR coat, Izen! Buy him a ticket too. Oh, and one last thing. Don't tell Dinesh about me. Completely omit my part in this. Samir is fine. Do we have a deal?"
Lucky flinches at "wyrmling," hoping Io doesn't take offense.
You can see the fine scales on the back of Io's neck shift slightly, but they otherwise don't react.
Lucky: "Don't tell Dinesh, got it. I do not want to know why you get along with Samir and not his brother, honestly."
Ra'ven: "See, even if it's a trick or a trap, it's at least one that sounds fun, right?"
Chrysoberyl: "This is why we get along so well, Ra'ven. Fun is important. If not for fun, why live even a single additional day? As for the brothers...politics, mainly. It's all fairly tedious."
Lucky: "Sounds about right. I fuckin' hate politics. Especially here."
Chrysoberyl: "Thoroughly unpleasant little berg burg, isn't it? If it wasn't for it's prime natural resource, there'd be no point coming her at all."
Itzen: "Perhaps it had to do with why you were in that cell in the first place. No matter. I have no current reason to reject your aid."
Chrysoberyl: (ffs.)
Chrysoberyl: ((multiple typos. Augh.)
Chrysoberyl: "Oh, it definitely had to do with that. But the how and why are.. hmm, shall we say, very much in the air?" He chuckles from within the shadow, moving away from the light again. "Well, if we have a deal, I'll see about releasing you. Oh, and you might need one extra thing, if you are where I think you are." A small parcel comes flying into your circle of light, plopping down at Eileen's feet. It looks like a square of folded cloth. "We'll call that thanks for not being louder about me than necessary." Suddenly, a massive green head emerges into your light as well, forest green scales with a texture like fine ceramic flickering unsteadily to reveal bones wound about with golden thread, and then back to scales. It bares its teeth in a draconic smile. "Now, for the sake of... fun... watch this."
ThE AiR SeEmS To ThIcKeN AND then iT BReaKS.
Riot: (( Sp sp sp SPONGEBOB?! ))
Riot: (( sorry, sorry ))
Chrysoberyl: "And now, they slowly opened their eyes. It was still in the room, though the sounds of guards closing in on their position were unmistakable. The glow of the cube faded away, and the stone was cool under their backs. It must have only been a few minutes at the very most since they had been pulled into the dream. Now they were back... but the Gray Angel and his minions would be on them soon. Luckily, they had everything they needed to defeat him, claim the Soma, and most importantly, flee with Chrysoberyl safely in tow. After they accomplished their own tasks, of course."
Riot: (( O.O again ))
Kaylen Fisher: "Ugh... what the actual...?"
Kaylen Fisher: ((Sorry not necessary. Spongebob is always relevant.))
Ra'ven hops to her feet, "I mean it wasn't a portal, right?"
Chrysoberyl: "The voice of their savior was already starting to fade from their awareness. They had no way of knowing that the portal they saw only led to another dream... this one masquerading as your reality. It was a good thing that the wise dragon had aided them...."
Ra'ven: "I bet Vul will be jellous we met a storytelling dragon."
The voice does in fact fade over the course of its speech.
Eileen sits up and looks around to see if the parcel that got tossed at her is some were near by.
Pell groans as he sits up, too. "You know. Some days, I really, really hate magic."
Lucky: "Don't you do magic, smart guy?"
Pell: "Not mutually exclusive, shut up."
Lilium: "I was about to say."
The folded cloth lies at your feet. It actually looks much, much weirder in reality than it did in the dream. There it just looked like black cloth. In the waking world, it looks as though someone took a square of NOTHING and folded it up.
Pell turns to look at Eileen's parcel
Itzen: "The days where magic has caused you more harm then help are not exactly unique."
Kaylen Fisher: "Exactly the kind of magic that I don't like and am not great at..."
Eileen: "Reminds me of Krises sword a bit..."
Kaylen Fisher: "Huh. One of these days, I'm going to get Kris to let me take a look at it. That thing is all kinds of wacky."
Ra'ven giggles, "I feel better. Will feel even better once we get outside. Bet Vul'd really like that. It's folded unspace."
Ra'ven: "I mean, that's what it looks like, right?"
Ra'ven pulls out one of her spare tail spines and pokes at the folded thing
Eileen picks it up as she stands and looks to the gate.
Lucky stands up and walks over, looking closely at the nothing. "Huh. What in the seven sumps is this thing?"
The first poke encounters resistance, and you see the square move, though you can't see the cloth being pressed. The absolute blackness shows no shading or texture. The second poke meets no resistance at all, and the spine simply passes into it.
Ra'ven: "Fancy! Maybe a thing to take the Soma? Not sure how it'd help defeat the Gray and it'd be a bit silly to have no use to either."
Riot: (( turns out Vantablack actually is magic ))
=^v^=: (( maybe a portable hole! ))
Io: "Our "benefactor" never said it would defeat Gray, only that we would need it."
Lilium: "I know that thing is intersting, but shouldn't we be focusing on them."
Lilium points to the gate.
Ra'ven: "Oh, did we want to steal her?" she gestures at the tomb
Eileen looks at the sarcophagus then at Io, "I don't think we need to worry, right?"
Kaylen Fisher blinks, then looks at the square of black cloth. "Um. So, I know you're understandably sensitive about this sort of thing, Io, but, uh, what if the Soma ISN'T what we're supposed to use this for?"
Ra'ven does not hide particularly well that she abosoultly does want to steal the sleeping bow person
Io: "Why would I be sensitive about this? I left my bones behind where you found me too. Mortals and their superstitions... Let's break this thing open."
Ra'ven tries to jimmy it open instead of smashing
Ra'ven is actually bad at smash unlike lucky who is good at it
Lucky: "If you need me to smash it, lemme know."
Ra'ven will need to make a thievery check.
Ra'ven: "I mean she's sleepign so maybe I can teleport her if I can see her a little"
Ra'ven:
  : Rolled 34. Thievery
Eileen unfolds the weird nothing to try and figure it out a bit while the others open the sarcophagus.
Ra'ven quickly finds what appears to be a puzzle lock built into one of the ornate corners of the sarcophagus, and after manipulating it for a bit, manages to trip it. A loud *Clank* issues from within, and the lid cracks open. Inside lies a skeleton, that of a tall woman with proportions much like an elf or human's. The bones also appear to be made of solid silver, untarnished by the passing of millenia. As for Eileen, once unfolded the square seems to barely even be there. Your fingers touch each other on either side of it as though nothing were there at all, but when you *intend* it, you seem to be able to pass into the blackness. It does seem like a portable hole, although those of you who have seen them before would also note that this seem unusually complete. Normally there is some sense of depth to them, while this one just seems to cut reality off at the boundary.
Ra'ven: "That's a lot deeper sleep then I expected."
Io: "A hope you didn't expect to resurrect a goddess by shaking her shoulders."
Lucky: "Do we... take her bones?"
Lucky: "I don't know how this shit works."
Io: (typos for the typpooo gahd.)
Riot: (( Io suddenly talks like Foghorn Leghorn ))
Ra'ven: "Well, the tradtional cursed with sleep would be a kiss on a hand or something..." she shrugs, "I mean for princesses at least. this god thing isn't really in stories."
Eileen: "I'm not sure a kiss will regrow... um... everything."
Riot: (( "Ah hope, ah say ah hope ya didn' expect ta resurrect a gawdess bah shakin' 'er shoulduhs!" ))
Ra'ven gingerly tries touching the hand of the skeleton, unsure what exactly silver goddess bones does to something like her
Io: "But the idea of princesses being kissed awake survived into the present?" They shake their head. "I didn't expect to find her here at all. I have no idea what it would take, and we don't have the time to figure it out now. I'll apologize for treating her bones roughly, and be glad to do so if I get the opportunity." They reach into the sarcophagus, and grab one of Sehanine's femurs in their mouth. "Hllld opnnnn th hllll."
Io: (Hold open the hole.)
Eileen nods holding it open for Io and the others.
Io: (Ok folks Since the next thing is probably a fight, I'm gonna call it tonight. We'basically only have time to roll initiative. )
Itzen:
  Mage Hand
 Does.. does it have claws?
Effect: She conjures a floating spectral hand, it can move and lift things and the like.
Sustain (Minor): The hand persists.
Move action: The hand moves up to 5 squares carying what it's holding.
Minor action: The hand can pick up or manuplate an object 20lbs or less.
Free action: The hand drops what it's holding.
Itzen being a normal werewolf pointedly avoids touching silver bones
Io: (That... makes a lot of sense.)
Lucky starts gathering them up, to throw in her pack, unless anyone objects.
=^v^=: (( I mean I think we were hole-ing them ))
Riot: (( what, chucking them through the nothing? ))
Io: (You can discuss that issue as you will. Just tell me what you decide. I also have no idea what a human skeleton made of silver would weigh...)
Io: (I expect Lucky could carry it with trivial effort, though.)
Riot: (( I think chucking them through without knowing what's on the other side is probably not the best plan, unless I'm missing something ))
Io: (Darn. Chrysoberyl's plan to steal a goddess has been foiled!)
Io: (Thanks for playing, all! I had fun tonight.)
vonel: (( I would assume us the hole that weighs nothing to carry them, can't imange what a nightmare getting them checked at the airship is going to be like. ))
Io: (I meant for if Lucky was putting the bones in her bag instead)
Io: (Imma sign out now. Stay awesome!)

vonel: Hoi
=^v^=: stranger in paradise is funny really
=^v^=: the party for the first part argues if chaos is a real guy to stab or merely the friends we made along the way
vonel: I haven't picked it up yet but I've heard it's pretty decent
Riot: hi hi
=^v^=: it's extremely silly
=^v^=: but also like, good at itself
=^v^=: and the dark souls of final fantasy
Ganaroth has connected.
Ganaroth: Hiya! Give me just a sec, and I'll be ready.
Riot: All good
=^v^=: but ya if you want to see litch in like 2 billion poligons, strange of paradice has you covered
Ganaroth: Litch?
vonel: Earth boss from frist FF
Riot: Lich
Ganaroth: Ah, wondering what the referent was.
Riot: I remember that bastard
=^v^=: well, 1.8 million triangles
Riot: It took me and my best friend forever to beat him on the NES back in the day
vonel: NES FF is worst way to play FF any more, sadly.
=^v^=: always was
Riot: I mean I only ever beat FF1 once
vonel: Not when it was the only way
Riot: FF2 and FF3 on SNES were significantly better
Ganaroth: 0 times here. I never had a console until ps2.
vonel: You mean 4 and 6
Ganaroth: And haven't had a console since ps2, lol.
Riot: I mean FF2 and FF3 because when they were released on SNES they were not 4 and 6
vonel: Thought you had a cube for a while? Or was that someone elses?
Riot: I still replay FF3/6 on the SNES emulator
Ganaroth: Nah, that was Sean's.
Riot: Every couple of years
=^v^=: I own a ps4 at least
vonel: They actually were, FF2 US was really FF4 and FF3 US was FF6.
Riot: I know that
=^v^=: and final fantasy legend 2 was saga fronteer 1
Ganaroth: My brother has had a N64, Cube, and an X-Box. When we were growing up, I mean. Now I'm sure he has whatever.
Riot: But they were released here as 2 and 3 and I specify that because I mean I was playing them OG on the actual SNES lol
Riot: Because I am old as dirt
vonel: Hey I still have my ff2 and ff3 SNES carts
=^v^=: i beat the first game of kirby's superstars on a commercial break between cartoons
Riot: Nice
Riot: Mine got lost over time
Riot: Makes me sad
=^v^=: I gave away all my pre-ps2 stuff
Ganaroth: Heh, I remember going over to a friend's house to play the original legend of zelda, so it's not like I have no memories of that. I just didn't own a console.
vonel: If you like randomizers there's an ff3/6 one that's really good
=^v^=: also all the carts
=^v^=: carts bad
=^v^=: disks can maybe be used for emulation
Riot: Also sorry I usually have to make the delineation because some of my friends don't realize I mean I had them on the SNES back when they were new lol
=^v^=: I think you are youngest here
Riot: Me?
=^v^=: yes
Riot: I'm 43
vonel: 42 here
=^v^=: or everyone could be within a year of eachother
=^v^=: w/e
Riot: I didn't realize we were basically the same age lol
Riot: I'm so used to being the oldest one even in my older friend groups
vonel: 83 be my year
=^v^=: guess I'm youngest uwu
Riot: Oh no the horror lol
The Gray Angel: Haha. Yeah, 42 here also.
vonel: I'm the oldest in the other firend groups, got most of the beat by at least 10 years
The Gray Angel: We're all OOOOOLLLLLLD.
Riot: lol yeah I am mainly the same way Von
Riot: Got a lot of younger millennials and zoomers in my orbit and it makes me feel ancient
Riot: Also
Riot: I sent a screenshot of me bitching about the Earth Lich from FF1 to my best friend that I mentioned and he just fucking laughed at me
The Gray Angel: I no longer have other friend groups. I have like, a friend that's not part of this one, but I don't connect to another group through him.
vonel: same really
The Gray Angel: Is ok. I don't even handle the friends I have well.
vonel: my other groups are people I know from work
Riot: I have one IRL friend group these days, but online I have a few
=^v^=: my other friends are not in groups
The Gray Angel: (Ready, more or less?)
Riot: ready
=^v^=: since they don't do shared group activities with other frineds of mine, but ya we can gaaame
vonel: ready
Last time on dnd, you exited the dream thanks to a mysterious intervention by Chrysoberyl, who provided egress and some kind of altered Portable Hole, or similar storage device. It seems as though there is something a little different about it, but Kay wasn't able to figure it out. Currently, however, several angels have arrived. As you watch, they assemble on the other side of the gate. You can see them easily enough, thanks to the transparent barrier, but they don't attempt to open the gate, or to break it down. Instead, they continue to assemble, evidently marshalling their numbers. Behind the line of other angelic beings, a figure that must be The Gray Angel appears. It stands a head taller than the others, and not only seems to be gray, but almost hewn from stone; even the feathers of its wings seem more like carvings than anything, and what few features it has seem roughly defined, and almost primitive. A pair of skeletons follow behind him, a faint radiance surrounding the three. (There are currently 4 angels of Valor, 1 angel of protection, 1 angel of winter (you haven't seen this one before, but it's hard to imagine that nobody makes a roll to recognize it.), Gray angel and the 2 Skeletons. I'll set them up, but none of them are making aggressive moves at the moment.)
Riot: (( I just posted a video that I may have posted before but I realized this group might appreciate more than others ))
The Gray Angel: (Neat.)
=^v^=: (( oh shit stone angel, nobody look away ))
Riot: (( thassalottabirdpeople ))
Itzen 's obligitory check for the portal
Itzen:
  : Rolled 18. Arcana
=^v^=: (( lol ))
Riot: (( Oh I forgot to have Pell roll to inspect the thing ))
Pell:
  : Rolled 27. Arcana
=^v^=: (( kay's 1 does, in fact, beat itzen's 2 ))
=^v^=: (( pell's 16 beats both of them tho ))
The Gray Angel: (snrk. Pell recognizes this sort of thing! This is actually an upgrade to the standard Portable Hole, called a Portable Vault. The weight capacity is greater, it contains a function similar to a Handy Haversack, so that the desired item well immediately come to hand, and is sealed by an Arcane Lock. Anyone using the item when it is unlocked can set a password that allows others to open it up.)
Riot: (( oh cool ))
Riot: (( Pell would relay that but as we're watching the active build up of badmens that's less of a pressing concern ))
The Gray Angel: (They are occasionally used for transporting important cargo from place to place in active combat zones, since the enemy won't be able to easily gain access even if they capture or kill the messenger.)
The Gray Angel: (Indeed.)
Itzen very obviously does not touch the silver bones, "You know, I do not think we will talk our way out of this."
Pell indicates to toss the bones in the magic hole
The Gray Angel: "That depends on you, really."
The Gray Angel: "Would you mind telling me why you came here?"
"I'm quite certain I've never purposely caused any of you harm, after all."
The Gray Angel: (darn)
The Gray Angel: "I'm quite certain I've never purposely caused any of you harm, after all."
The Gray Angel: (reflexive /e )
The Gray Angel: (Are you there? Am I there?)
=^v^=: (( yes ))
The Gray Angel: (There is a limit to how much I can just talk to myself, people.)
The Gray Angel: (yeah, even me.)
Itzen: "You do, however, purposefully cause harm to the poor."
The Gray Angel: "Are you here on their behalf, then?"
Riot: (( I am not sure how to respond to that without getting us into a fight lmao ))
The Gray Angel: (Neither he nor I tell you.)
Riot: (( lmao ))
Itzen: "We are here on my behalf, actually. I would rather prefer a lot of people to not die. Your setup happens to invite well-meaning 'heroes' to stop it though."
The Gray Angel: "Ah. I see." The thing nods its head, giving the impression that a somber expression is crossing its nonexistant face. "Are you the assassins that have been eliminating city Patricians? The have been three deaths among my peers already, and one disappearance. Why does attacking me help to keep others, not my customers, from dying?"
The Gray Angel: "Perhaps if I know your desires, we can arrive at a more constructive relationship to each other."
Itzen sighs, "Why should I ignore the plights you cause when it's right in my face?"
Itzen: "The deaths are the result of the circumstances we ran across them in."
=^v^=: (( by the way, Itzen is likely going to be picking a fight, is that a problem for anyone? ))
The Gray Angel: ""Because if you are the assassins, and pledge to leave without causing violence, I'll offer none towards you." It tilts its head to one side. "I have no desire to die, and I don't believe myself so much stronger than the others that you pose no threat to me."
Riot: (( I mean as much as I'd like to be able to talk / intimidate our way out of it, both of my characters would hate this guy for what he's done to the local population of the less fortunate ))
The Gray Angel: (I understand.)
vonel: (( No problems with fight picking here ))
=^v^=: (( ya, Itzen is not, in fact, a utilitarian about this sorta stuff ))
Itzen: "Will you simply stop the harm you cause to those in this city? For the barter?"
Itzen: "Your setup is a mockery of the idea of Mercy and it seems even of the ideals the one you draw power from used to represent!"
The Gray Angel: "That is too much. It would simply be violence of another kind, ending my ability to provide for myself and for those in my care. Other concessions might be possible, however. You only have to ask. I am an entity of business. An entity of peace." It is silent for a few moments. "You won't agree. Of course not. It takes a rare person to truly appreciate death's mercy. Well, as you will, then. I've already contacted the city guard, and have called for additional reinforcements of my own, so I wish you as little pain as possible."
Itzen: "You yourself do not wish to experence it."
The Gray Angel begins floating away. "Death will take me one day, when I can no longer serve it."
=^v^=: (( question, do we have a way to drop the barrier? ))
=^v^=: (( also we prob should be setup where fight is ))
The Gray Angel: (Yes, you do. There is an interior panel that probably does that)
=^v^=: (( prob itzen signals someone to hit the button to charge ))
=^v^=: (( also mebby set up your pogs ))
Riot: (( were this something like BG3, right now would be when I quicksaved lol ))
The Gray Angel: (Don't know what Pogs means, so (shrugs))
Riot: (( pogs and slammers oh lordy ))
The Gray Angel: That cleared up nothing.
=^v^=: (( pogs are another word for tokens, aka the character things we move around ))
Riot: (( I tried my best to explain in the discord ))
=^v^=: (( rioto correctly identifies where they CAME from though ))
Riot: (( Kids 'toys' from the 90s ))
The Gray Angel: (I know what a token is. Please don't treat me like an idiot for not knowing a term nobody has used in my presence before.)
The Gray Angel: (Totally, honest, I don't know that I want to continue. I'm kinda hurt.)
vonel: do not blame you
Riot: (( (I definitely wasn't trying to come across like that - my pogs and slammers comment was a response to Akaiku's initial 'mebby set up your pogs', not your statement about not knowing what it meant! Sorry) ))
The Gray Angel: (Your comment wasn't the hurtful part.)
=^v^=: (( I was trying to explain? ))
The Gray Angel: (So you felt you needed to explain what a token was to me?)
=^v^=: (( err, I meant it in the both of those statments being pogs ))
=^v^=: (( aka, "The things we move around, you know, tokens." ))
The Gray Angel: (You may note that isn't what you wrote, though.)
=^v^=: (( yes I had those statments in opposite order, which does not, in fact, change my intention ))
The Gray Angel: (It doesn't change the intention, but it certainly changes the meaining of the sentence.)
The Gray Angel: (The second clause modifies the word "tokens" not the phrase "thing you move around."
The Gray Angel: AKA you decided to define "token" to me.
The Gray Angel: (I think it's best to find another day this week. I can't get my enthusiasm back at this point.)
