Last time, the worst person was brutally murdered, and justifiably so.
You were able to dispose of the remaining hostile creatures with nominal
effort, and as soon as everything quieted down, the aforementioned voice
called out. I know that at least one person was hit by and Otyugh attack
that inflicted disease, so I'd appreciate it if the relevant people

Ra'ven:
"Oh,
someone else is here, want me to go see who it is?" Ra circles
back around the fallen bridges at a decent trot.
Ra'ven:
"Ya
know, so we can leave the bars up in case it's a trap?"
Eileen:
"Rather
not have you be alone in case it is."
Lucky nods
Ra'ven:
"I
mean, I'd probably be fine but..." a shrug, "Guess I can try to
fix this."
Kaylen Fisher:
"I
can go with, if you need backup."
Ra'ven:
"You
don't suppose we might be able to keep the spikey wolves, right?"
Kaylen Fisher:
"I
mean, how?"
Eileen:
"I
don't know were we would keep them."
Ra'ven:
"We
have a home base, we could make a little place for them."
Kaylen Fisher:
"I
don't see us leading a parade of dire wolves through the streets
without attracting attention. Same as the wyverns."
Ra'ven:
"And
they seem ill-fit to living alone."
Eileen:
"were
do we keep them here and how do we get them there?"
Ra'ven:
"I
mean just leaving them here for the next guy to beat them, then
send them off to get killed in a dumb fight seems sad is all."
Ra'ven:
"And
it'd look pretty imposing to have a bunch of wolves with spikes
staring at guests whilst sitting on a fancy chair."
Pell:
"Eileen's
right. The problem is logistics."
Kaylen Fisher:
"Ok,
I'm gonna be the bad guy here. We have no way to save these guys.
The most merciful thing we can do is... well."
Ra'ven:
"There
is those collars, and we have that wierd thing in the basement."
Lucky:
"Even
if we got 'em back to the bar, I'm not tryin' to scare away
customers."
Lucky sighs. "Don't wanna kill 'em,
either."
Ra'ven:
"Supose
I could just come back later and buy them..."
Kaylen Fisher:
"I
don't WANT to kill them, I guess if we manage to get away with
this without being positively identified, we could try that."
Ra'ven tilts her head, "Are you
alright, thos emonsters sorta roughed you up." to Kay.
Ra'ven:
"Plus,
it's not like we don't know someone who's actually in the
goverment, just get that guy to send them to us."
Kaylen Fisher:
"I'll
live. Not the first time. My style sorta incorporates enemy
aggrssion anyway."
Ra'ven:
A
pause, "I mean you all can also not actually
want
a
few large spike-coverd wolves laying around."
Ra'ven tries to undisable the big gate
in the middle
Eileen:
"I'd
be more worried about how Patience would react to them if we don't
talk it over with her first."
Ra'ven:
"I'd
tease her about the, 'actually we are all in this together' bit if
she was unreasonable about it."
Io:
"An
excellent idea, if you are so inclined." The baby dragon makes a
gesture that looks like a shrug. "If you desire them, you can
always make them a fait accompli. Her reaction will have a natural
limit if you simply bring them home."
Ra'ven:
"Mostly
they are relaxingly fuzzy and would make somewhat imposing
ceremonally guard dogs right? We don't have anything like that,
just magic."
Pell:
"My
sis-,
Patience
didn't seem like the type to take that kind
of thing well."
Lucky:
"She'd
live."
Io:
"To
use a colloquialism from my time, what's she gonna do?"
Io eyes Pell with some interest, but
says nothing.
Itzen frowns slightly at Ra, "Your..
descriptions
of dire wolves are somewhat non-standard"
Lucky:
"Kill
us or them. Maybe. Hopefully not, though. I mean, I could probably
talk her out of it."
Eileen sighs, "Well we don't have a
way to ge tthem back our selfs, so let's see if our frieds higher
up will have them transported for us."
Eileen:
"Sense
out side of getting the collars reprogramed there's no real way
for us to move them."
Kaylen Fisher:
"Nonstandard,
but the description ain't wrong either. And yeah, it wouldn't be
impossible to arrange transport, if we can get them to the docks
legally. It's not like animals don't get shipped all the time."
Ra'ven:
"This
IS a creature traning place, sorta. Selling creatures seems a
thing people would accept."
Ra'ven:
"Also,
no offense, there seems to be a certain level of official
corruption here."
Ra'ven:
=^v^=:
(( for the fiddling with the lever in
the middle ))
Ra'ven:
"Did
anyone think of where that keycard might be?"
Eileen:
"On
him or in his office I would think."
Kaylen Fisher:
"I
like the idea of hitting up those Dinesh and Samir fellows for the
assist. I mean... okay, I was the bad guy, but I didn't WANT to
be, and frankly I like the idea. If we can do it without getting
the whole city pissed, I'd like to make it happen." She nods.
"Yeah. Training vicious animals is exactly the point of this
place. SOMEBODY was going to buy them. Also also... yeah, the
place is corrupt as fuck." She frowns. "Actually... not so much.
It's hard to be corrupt when it doesn't seem like there are many
regulations in the first place."
Lucky:
"Not
sure who you're worried about offending. I like my bar, couldn't
give a fuck about the local govvies. Except Samir and Dinesh,
obviously."
Kaylen Fisher:
(Please
roll that thievery check again. You need to declare before
rolling.)
Kaylen Fisher:
"They
seem okay, yeah."
=^v^=:
(( I mean okay but I sorta declaried
I was doing that a bit earlier in the conversation, then went with the
check cause I didn't get a response ))
Ra'ven:
Kaylen Fisher:
(That
was a while ago, and, as you point out, I clearly didn't see it.
Try to make a statement as close to the roll as possible.)
=^v^=:
(( err, close and BEFORE then? ))
Kaylen Fisher:
(Yes.)
Lucky:
"Fought
and bled beside 'em, they're good. Probably the only bright spots
in this shitsump."
Ra'ven:
"I
mean that in the 'walking confidently down the road doing
something suspicious would have most people look the other way as
opposed to report to authorities' sorta way."
That's a success. With expert motions, Ra'ven manages to dislodge the
broken pieces of the lever, restoring the mechanism to at least a state
where it is released.
Kaylen Fisher:
(I
like shitsump)
Kaylen Fisher:
(What
does Ra mean by that? I'm missing something, sorry.)
Riot:
(( been watching too much Arcane,
everything is a sumpsnipe or bilge rat etc etc ))
Kaylen Fisher:
(I
figured that you were drawing the "sump" term from there.)
=^v^=:
(( I mean the general populace
keeping their heads down cause they assume suspicoius things are
someone's made men doing crime things and sticking nose in it gets
trouble ))
Kaylen Fisher:
(Ok,
but what is the context? Is she saying that nobody will
investigate if you just take the wolves through the streets?)
Kaylen Fisher:
(Because
I can promise you right now that's not the case, and you'd more or
less know that.)
=^v^=:
(( side note, Ra's analogies and
descriptions of things are ment to be a bit off. Also that she thinks
extremely few people would try to have them stopped for that ))
Kaylen Fisher:
(She
is wrong, but ok.)
Kaylen Fisher:
(Noted
about the analogies.)
Eileen:
"Any
ways... we can decied what to do with the wolfs later."
Kaylen Fisher:
(If
an explanation is needed, if you do indeed look like "made men,"
(and that's not certain) you are likely to be investigated by
OTHER "made men" if you do something visible. The players watch
each other.)
Yeah. Well, like I said, the mechanism is released, and the gate can be
opened.
Ra'ven:
"Anyways,

Io:
"I
am... becoming... quite fatigued. But I will press on."
Ra'ven flicks the big switch with her
tail showing off as it's probably less then 5lbs of force to
switch, since mage hand
Io:
(Without
the blockage, 5lbs of force is more than enough.)
Ra'ven:
"Too
bad Vul isn't here, he'd likely carry you."
Io:
(Also,

"Someone

Io:
"And I
would likely let him. Pride is one thing; exhaustion is another."
Kaylen Fisher gives Eileen a thumbs up
as the grating lowers into the floor, opening the way.
Eileen heads though the gate trying to
hide her own exhaustion.
The next section is more of the same, although the animals are
different. There are more scarabs in the first two cells, though they
are larger, healthier variants, and a captive rust monster near the
back, locked in a cage with ceramic-coated bars. Opposite that cage,
however is the source of the voice.
Ra'ven checks out what sorta monster
is in the last cage that talks

(( aka the source of the voice ))
Lilium blinks at Ra a look of relief
and uncertainty on her face.
Lilium:
"We'll
your not him... and... do you work for him?"
Ganaroth:
(For
those unaware, if at all, Lilium is a Vonel character)
Ra'ven:
"The
dead guy who was in charge of here? Also who are you?" Ra is still
in her hybrid spike demon jackle person form, if that's pertant
for Lil
Lilium:
"He's
dead? Or this that another trick...? He's done that before, and
who are you? How do I know your not another one of his tricks?"
Ra'ven hms, "I mean I don't really
have any way of knowing what that'd be I suppose? Say, you
probably want out of there right? Mind not running away or
attacking?"
Kaylen Fisher walks up. "Hey there.
I'm here too. Is this a regular thing? Did this guy keep a lot of
intelligent being in cages here?" She looks profoundly irritated
as she releases the lever.
Lilium eyes flick from Ra to the
hallway, but she nods, "Not that fighting or running would do much
good if you are working for him or just a trick."
Lilium:
"Not
that I'm aware... think I'm the only one. Guess he could have had
other like me in the past but..." she shrugs.
Ra'ven:
"She
sorta looks like one of my sisters too." A pause at Kay's thing,
"I mean, I'd supose he'd keep someone like Vul so maybe?"
Lilium:
"Your
sisters?"
Ra'ven:
"Ya,
she is a dryad, except a lot more pink, because cherry tree."
Lilium:
"Your...
your one of the fair folk? You don't really look it."
Ra'ven:
"Oh,
that's cause I'm
also
a devil."
Kaylen Fisher:
"You've
got a weird family structure, Ra'ven." She smiles, clearly
understanding that you aren't blood related.
Ra'ven stops herself, "... Right
that's a bad introduction."
Kaylen Fisher:
"And
why the hell would you introduce yourself that way? Yeah, what she
said."
Lilium seems to stay in the cell
despit the door being open, "They are part of the world, an
unliked part but still a part."
Kaylen Fisher:
"She's
got some ancestry or something, that's all, so her part of the
world isn't likely to steal your soul or anything. She's perfectly
nice, especially to critters."
Ra'ven almost interjects but stops at
the second bit of Kay's statment, "Anyways, ya, that guy is dead
now. Mostly we were here to rob him but it's a rather unkind place
he has here."
Ra'ven:
"Got
anywhere to go?"
Lilium:
"Is
that really true? Sorry... he's just done things like this so many
times, getting my hopes up that someone is here to save me just to
have it be a liein the end."
Ra'ven:
"I
mean if you trust us enough to walk down the ways, you can see him
face down in the muck?"
Kaylen Fisher points back that way.
Kaylen Fisher:
"I'd
offer to go grab him, but he's floating in shit-water."
Ra'ven:
"We
sorta need to search for that key..."
Lilium nods, "I guess... not like I
can get to far if it is a trick."
Riot:
(( I guess Pell can stab his body with
the glaive and pull him out or something ))
Kaylen Fisher:
"I
didn't say YOU couldn't grab him."
Lilium points to a collar around her
neck, "Kind of keeps me here."
Kaylen Fisher:
(Lol,
sure, why not?)
=^v^=:
(( is it attached to anything? ))
=^v^=:
(( is it the spikey one? ))
Kaylen Fisher:
(Imma
need a reminder, sorry.)
Kaylen Fisher:
(I
feel annoyed that I can't remember that specific piece of info.)
=^v^=:
(( the earlier teleport collars were
spiked dog collars, Ra mentioned they are stylish which nobody agreed
with ))
=^v^=:
(( ra also took them ))
Kaylen Fisher:
(Oh,
ok. They aren't SPIKED, exactly, just studded. The studs are
pyrimidal, but not sharp And yeah, she's wearing one.)
Ra'ven:
"These
didn't explode if forced off right?" Ra asks Kay gesturing to the
coller.
Itzen tries to work to search the dead
guy via possibly Pell's help and MAGE HAND SHENANS
Kaylen Fisher mutters "Shitty thing...
I can take a look at it." She shakes her head. "Not that I saw,
no. And there's probably a key for these around here too."
Lilium:
"Like
I said, can't really run. But I would like to see that he really
his dead."
Ra'ven absolutly tries to lockpick/etc
Lil's collar
Ra'ven:
"Too
bad these sorts of things don't tend to blink off."
Lilium:
"Oh
and sorry for being rude before, my name is Lilium."
Itzen and Pell search Haarken's corpse, sodden with disgusting liquid
and stinking of effluent. He actually has a number of things! There are
a series of keys in different materials and shapes, on of which has a
head in the shape of one of those collars. He also has a remaining
potion of his own, a clearly magical ring, a pair of gloves, his crop,
also magical, and a purse of mixed coinage, including a surprisingly
large amount of platinum. In addition, he is wearing the expected
keycard, secreted away in a buttoned pocket inside his coat.
Itzen:
Effect:
She does one of the acceptable
prestidigitation magic tricks.
Kaylen Fisher:
(Dumb
me. The gloves are magical too, obviously.)
Kaylen Fisher:
(Otherwise
they wouldn't be worth mentioning. Probably)
Itzen at least does not suffer
longterm muck rummaging effects
vonel:
(( could just be a pair of really
nice gloves ))
Kaylen Fisher:
(Nah,
as long as you wash your hands)
Kaylen Fisher:
(Yup,
that was the carve-out for the "probably.")
Itzen prestidig's the cleaning stuff
effects
Kaylen Fisher:
(Cleaning
is easy with a few applications of the spell, and soon everything
is pristine. Of course, the place itself still stinks, and would
take a long while to clean even using that cantrip, but for the
corpse and gear, it's perfect.)
Itzen clears the gear and
herself/pell, has no intrest in the corpse looking better
Kaylen Fisher:
"Hey,
Lilium. Don't worry, I didn't think you were all that rude. I'm
Kaylen, but people sometimes just call me Kay."
Kaylen Fisher:
(if
the door isn't open, she will do that.)
=^v^=:
(( Kay opened the door though ))
vonel:
(( she already opened it, Lilium just
wasnt sure if it really was okay to go out ))
Riot:
(( once they're done rooting through
his gear: ))
Kaylen Fisher:
(Well,
if I did that, then I don't need to do it twice.)
Ra'ven was going to try to lockpick
the collor but I guess keys
Lucky kicks his body back into the
shitwater.
Kaylen Fisher:
(
)
Splash.
Someone is likely to find him before he rots too much, but it's at least
a nice thought.
Kaylen Fisher:
"You
know, if Yltheria were here, she could probably cause his corpse
to decay faster, which would be amusing, but my expertise with
THAT kind of magic isn't like hers."
Ra'ven:
"Um,
ya, I think we are suppose to be hiding our names or the like?"
she looks back to where Itzen was working.
Kaylen Fisher looks at Ra'ven blankly,
and then redness begins to spread across her cheeks and down her
neck, flushing the tawny skin. "Uh... I guess I figured she was
coming with us... oops."
Lilium:
"Why
would you be hiding your names?"
Kaylen Fisher is silent this time.
Ra'ven:
"Cause
we are acting 'secretly' and all." Ra looks at the plant person,
"Would you happen to want a cloak?"
Ra'ven:
"We
sweep in, beat up badguys, take things and run out, leaving
everyone upset and wondering what hit them, isntead of being able
to just, find out who we are."
Kaylen Fisher considers that and then
nods, not mentioning the part about also being paid to do so.
Lilium tilts her head in confusion, "I
guess, can can I see him? So I can know for sure?"
Ra'ven gestures back where they were,
"I mean ya?"
Kaylen Fisher gestures again. "Right
over here, like I said." She smiles, friendly.
Haarken is floating facedown, but is turned over easily. Itzen's sword
has gone through his face, but the ugly lines, seams, and pockmarks of
his skin are still easily recognizable.
Lilium stares at him hands clentched,
"So he really is... here I was hoping I'd be the one to do it..."
Kaylen Fisher:
(Seriously,
he really does look like that portrait. He''s an elf, but he
almost looks like he might have goblin ancestry.)
Io:
"I
have had enemies I've felt that way about. I'm sorry to have
deprived you of your vengeance."
Lucky:
"It
was a group effort."
Lilium slumps to the ground, "Mother
wolf... I'm finally free."
Itzen raises an eyebrow at the
newcomer, "Be consoled that revenge was had, as the blessings of
Garmera are not necessarly personal." She also gestures and uses
prestidig on Lil assuming she's a bit worse for wear sitting in
the torture dungeon.
Almost certainly.
Lilium:
"It
would have bene nice, I'm just glad he's gone."
Io:
"What
shall you do with your freedom, leafkin?"
Kaylen Fisher taps the key against the
collar, after a quick examination, and it immediately unlatches.
Ra'ven collects the collar and puts it
back in her collar bag if not stopped
Kaylen Fisher does not stop her.
Kaylen Fisher:
"Pretty
sure these aren't trackers. Doesn't mean they couldn't find them
with a Location ritual, but it'll be harder."
Kaylen Fisher:
"They'd
need to know the exact one they're looking for."
Lilium sighs and rubs her neck looking
relived that it's gone, "I do not know young dragon, the ancient
contracts will have me owe all of you a favor, but if you all
don't mind can that wait for a bit?"
Ra'ven:
"What
kinda favor?"
Io nods gravely. "A fey promise is
indeed a certain thing. I have no doubt you will fulfill it in
time." They look about. "I think you've been here too long." They
turn again, meeting the eyes of the rest of the party. "I think
she should come with us. We have freed her. We are responsible for
her."
Lucky:
"Long
as you don't stab us in our sleep, I'm good."
Itzen:
"Do
you not have somewhere to go or be? Aside from a place illumiated
by the Wolf, given this place."
Lilium nods at Io, "What the young
dragon said, the fey are bound to rules older then most and the
favor can be of most any thing within reason, there are things I
can not do after all."
A strange expression crosses Io's face, difficult to read thanks to
their draconic features. "...but where is your tree? I did not think of
it before, but I didn't see any nearby capable of sustaining a dryad
like yourself. How are you so far from it?"
Lilium:
"No
place at the moment, and I can't exactly get back home very
easily."
Ra'ven:
"Well,
if you give me your collar I'll consider my bit of it repaid." she
hmms, "My sisters hated having a favor owed and would get sad or
tricky depending over it."
Lilium looks at Io, "Oh... you know
about that."
Io:
"I'm
somewhat older than I appear, and I've known many of your folk in
the past."
Lilium:
"I
am still bound to it but it is so old that it has effectly become
something of a god of the forest... or maybe guardian would be a
better tearm? Either way, it infused a flower it gave me with a
bit of it's power and that's allowed me to be so far away form it
for so long."
Ra'ven nods at Lil, "Guess that makes
sense, my sister just didn't like running off so she always stayed
not particluarly far from her tree."
Lilium:
"It
can be hard for one of us to leave our tree, especially the
younger ones. Older dryids like my self can be farther away for
longer but usally we have to go back to be near it after a time."
Io blinks. "So... rather than being
the full aspect of a tree, you are the child of a forest elder?
This is something I know happens on occasion, but Forest Elders
are so rare that I've never met one like you." Their head tilts.
"To my knowledge, such a birth only occurs when some great purpose
must be accomplished, though I don't know if you have divined your
own. Regardless... I would know how you were captured, but you may
not wish to speak of it, at least not yet."
Ra'ven:
"Is
there anyone else down here we should rescue, you think?"
You didn't see immediately see any sentient captives in the rooms along
the way, for what it's worth.
Itzen:
"Or
kill, for that matter. Since we
are
here." Though Itzen
does seem a bit less aggreved then she was on her way.
There were quite a few people to kill, but you went right past them
without them really noticing.
Io:
(apologies:
THEY didn't notice YOU.)
Lilium looks away a bit embaresed, "Oh
that... I had actually stopped near this litte house that had a
stream running near it, but the water was so fouled and bitter
that I got sick and passed out. When I woke up I was down here."
Ra'ven offers a waterskin, "I mean if
you just want to drink some acceptable water?"
Io 's gaze flicks over toward Lucky.
"Hmm. I wonder. Well, even if it was, it's hardly your fault..."
Lilium:
"Later
maybe? I don't really drink like you do."
Io:
"Well,
you'll have time, I think. We have a place for you to rest and
recover, if you will come with us. We can decide what to do then."
Lilium:
"Of
course."
Ra'ven:
"No
good streams there though."
Lilium:
"I
mean if that's okay with everyone else."
Lucky shrugs. "Like I said, just don't
stab me in my sleep and we're good."
Itzen:
"It
would be unkind to you and problematic to us to just leave you be
outside."
Itzen:
"It
is a bit helpful for news of this raid to be delayed."
Io:
"Indeed."
They grin slightly. "I don't think letting you just wander off on
your own helps us very much either."
Lilium:
"Thank
you, still don't know why you can't tell me your names but I'm
Lilium for those that didn't hear it before."
Itzen:
"Else
this person's head would be better decorating a spike on the
middle of the grounds." she spits in the direction of the dead
body.
Io:
"My
name is Io, though that name was long lost in ages past."
Lilium blinks slowly turning to Io and
steps back, "Wait... Io... like... that Io?"
Io blinks. "You... have memory of it?"
Ra'ven:
"Io
says they made all the dragons."
Lucky raises an eyebrow at Lilium's
response.
Io:
"I say
this because it is truth. But the gulf of time..."
Ra'ven:
"I
mean she's from a really really old tree right?"
Io 's expression becomes wary.
"Lilium, HOW old is your tree?"
Lilium drops to her kees bowing a bit,
"Umm... I don't have any memories of it, but I've heard the oldest
trees in the deepest parts of the forest still whisper your name
from time to time."
Lilium:
"Thousands
of years... even he doesn't fully remeber any more."
Ra'ven:
"Oh!
Was there
really
a time without the Wolf in the sky?"
Io honestly seems dumbfounded. "Trees
rarely speak of pasts other than their own. To remember me... Your
parent must be older than any civilization I've ever encountered.
Its experience of the world as a whole might well outstrip my own.
If it has survived so long, it would practically be a god itself."
Lilium:
"The
trees I've talked to only speak of a time when mother wolf was
there if grandfater was he doesn't speak of it, and it's mostly
storiesthe others whisper about the one called Io."
Io:
"...As
you said, I suppose."
Io:
"Hmm.
I wonder what that would mean. Tyellenthi would understand better,
of course, but I can't exactly ask her."
Ra'ven nods, "Io knows stuff from
supposedly a
before
. My brother and friends found them in a
sorta broken Rune Maze."
Io:
"I
still want to observe a functional one. Such things didn't exist
before, and I would like to know more..."
Lilium:
"I
know my forest is at least partly in the world you would know as
the feywild, but it's not easy to get to and no one lives there
but me and my sisters as well as the trees and animals of the
forest."
Itzen:
"A
broken
Maze? I do not think anyone has ever successfully even
harmed
one."
Io:
"I
only repeat the assertions of those who found me. I can't verify
that myself."
Lucky:
"It
wasn't exactly in tip top shape, no."
Io:
"I was
bound in a place where my body crumbled to dust, and my soul fed
upon it, growing weaker and weaker as the ages passed. My soul
traveled down endless corridors of thought, searching for a way
out that I knew was there, but could not find. It has been
suggested to me that whatever the "exit" was, it had been somehow
sealed, preventing me from being ejected. Then these clever
individuals did me the kindness of rewriting that obstacle,
freeing me."
Itzen hmms, "I... suppose it's
possible
?
Mazes have been theorized to 'contain' concepts. Perhaps you were
the concept of dragons?"
Ra'ven laughs, "Vul aboslutly would
hug the concept of dragons if he were in the position to make that
situation happen."
Io:
"I
certainly AM the concept of dragons. My own concept, incarnate and
complete. But if that was the purpose of it, I would hope it
wouldn't be so hostile to me." They pause. "And recall that my
imprisonment was not natural. This was a thing DONE to me. It
happened BEFORE the time of this world's shattering, though not
long before."
Io:
"Hmm..."
Io stays silent, mulling over some
private thought.
Eileen:
"Maybe
who ever did it wanted to protect you?"
Itzen:
"One
of the few aspects of Mazes that remains constant between tales,
reports and research is that they
are hostile
"
Io:
"It
would make little sense for the maze of dragons to be hostile to
ME."
Eileen shrugs, "Maybe it wasnt't ment
to be a maze at firest but turned into one later, when the exit
was sealed or something."
Lucky:
"Io
and Ty were definitely imprisoned. It wasn't great."
Ra'ven:
"Are
you good to do some walking, probably a bit of sneaking and
runnign as well?" she asks Lil
Lilium nods and stands back up, "I
should be okay."
Kaylen Fisher:
"Yeah,
we can finish talking later, since this isn't something that's
going to get solved right here. Lets get out before somebody
decides to stop by."
Lilium picks up Io and carrys them.
Io seems content.
Kaylen Fisher:
(So,
are you going back to Glentes' (the apothecary) shop? And if so,
could you describe how you get there? Thanks to the previous
attack, and considering that someone miiiiight come across
Haarken's body before you get back, it's not impossible that there
would be an issue.
)
Kaylen Fisher:
(It
doesn't have to be overly specific. Just the general gist of
things, essentially.)
Riot:
(( I can't think of anything that
makes sense for the life of me lol ))
Riot:
(( mainly because my memory is bad and
I can't remember the path we took to get here ))
Kaylen Fisher:
(Is
okay. If you just want to walk back, it's not like that's out of
the question! I was just asking in case you wanted to do something
else. If this is the case, could you each make a skill check to
aid you in avoiding patrols on the way?)
Riot:
(( or if we had another route out ))
=^v^=:
(( we have Elieen's cool as shit map
at some point too ))
Kaylen Fisher:
((That
map can be used as an auto success on Eileen's part.))
Kaylen Fisher:
(Knowing
exactly where all the alleys are is helpful.)
Riot:
(( which skill, stealth? ))
Kaylen Fisher:
(Any
skill that you think would be relevant.)
Lucky:
Pell:
Kaylen Fisher:
(Stealth
is an option, of course! So are things like bluff, to make
yourself seem inconspicuous, or perception, to avoid incoming
patrols.)
Kaylen
Fisher:
Kaylen Fisher:
(I'm
noting successes and failures, don't worry.)
Itzen:
Effect:
She uses arcana instead of stealth
Itzen:
Io:
Io:
(Io
fails at looking like a pet)
=^v^=:
(( which is ironic given their status
as team pet ))
vonel:
(( Eileen can use the map sure, and
could Lilium use a daily that might be useful in getting around? ))
Io:
(Yeah,
but instead they just look like a fricking baby dragon, which
calls attention to them. It would depend on the daily for Lilium.)
Lilium:
Lilium cloaks herself with a shimmering aura, making her
outline almost impossible to discern.
Effect:
Until the end of the encounter, you gain a
+2 power bonus to all defenses, and you are invisible to
enemies 5 squares or more away from you.
Apply
You
gain a +2 power bonus to all defenses, and you are invisible
to enemies 5 squares or more away from you.
vonel:
(( that ))
Io:
(I'm
not sure I want to establish the precedent that this power would
work for the length of a 45 minute walk, but can we say that it
gives you a +5 bonus to a check involving them not taking note of
you?)
vonel:
(( Works for me. ))
Io:
(KK
then.)
Io:
(It
would open the door to just popping that power to just shadow
people or loiter indefinitely...)
Ra'ven buys gloaming armor to loiter
indefinitely
=^v^=:
(( xp ))
Io:
(I
normally feel it's not a great idea to let single powers duplicate
an entire character theme.)
Io:
(And
gloaming armor would be subject to the same rules.)
vonel:
(( Well there's that whole five
minute time limit on powers being used outside of combat rule so she can
just use it when it might come up for this instance for that +5. And I
completly agree with you. ))
Io:
(It's
until end of encounter, not forever, and I think I'm pretty
generous in saying that it lasts as long as that.)
Io:
(Yeah,
what Von said.)
=^v^=:
(( yeh, gloaming is just an encounter
long encounter power but importantly I was teasing ))
Lilium:
Io:
(Nodnod.
And importantly, I can't hear your tone of voice over text, so
it's hard to know that.)
vonel:
(( Hah ))
Ra'ven would normally be all sneaky
and stuff but is likely chilling following Kay
vonel:
(( 4'd ))
Ra'ven:
Io:
(I'm
sorry, I've got nothing I can really do about that, Vonel.)
Io:
(Has
Pell rolled?)
Io:
(Sorry,
yeah.)
Well, I guess that's everyone, then. You manage to make it back without
being caught, though there are a number of close calls. Halfway through
the walk, patrols begin showing up in force. The murder of Haarken in
his kennels, combined with the assault on Coalstone Prison, and the
attack on the execution has had the obvious effects. While the common
people in the streets either seem to not know or care, it's clear that
those higher up are beginning to panic. More than once, you see soldiers
roughing up someone during a public "questioning" concerning your own
activities.)
It's simply not normal for official facilities to be targeted in this
way, especially in such rapid succession. They may well feel that the
city is under attack. Which is not inaccurate.
Itzen radiates smug
Glentes: Wolf Cultist opens the door,
looking nervously about as you approach. "Um... I assume that all
this commotion is because of you?" He grins weakly. "You're in
luck. They stopped by here about five minutes ago, asking a few
questions, so you missed them."
Itzen nods, "Good job on your end. The
potions were helpful and you did have them leave."
Lilium tilts her head
Glentes: Wolf Cultist:
"I'm
doing what I can. In a few more years, the Lansiri will have their
own investigators installed, but until then we have soldiers
acting as constables, which mostly means the aren't practiced
investigators. And..." He stops. "Uh... I'm sorry, miss. I don't
recognize you." He peers at her, slightly confused by you and your
appearance, but not objecting. "I assume you're a friend."
Glentes: Wolf Cultist:
(He
says that to Lilium, sorry)
Itzen:
"She
was one of the 'pets' in the kennel."
Glentes: Wolf Cultist:
"...well,
that put me off my lunch. I'm so sorry. Can I get you anything?
Are you hungry? Cold?"
Itzen:
"Places
like that is what the Orb is
for
"
Glentes: Wolf Cultist:
"Oh,
and definitely come it." He gets out of the way of anyone who
hasn't stepped in already.
Lilium:
"A
pan and some clean water would be nice."
Glentes: Wolf Cultist:
"Of
course. And hopefully once you retrieve it, you can put it to
better use than their poking and prodding."
Glentes: Wolf Cultist goes to get the
pan of water.
Lilium:
"Orb?
Or is that something else you can't tell me?"
Itzen frowns, "The Tear of Garmera."
Glentes: Wolf Cultist:
"It's...
well, I suppose you can't hurt us any more than you can already.
It's an artifact; a sphere containing a fragment of Garmera's
silver fire. "The Orb of Ayla," or "The Tear of Garmera." I'm not
really sure why the difference in those names, but some of the
same people that probably took you captive stole it as well. It's
important, and dangerous."
Lilium:
"I
see."
Io:
"We
intend to retrieve it before it can be used, purposefully or no,
to harm others. At the very least, it should not be in THEIR
hands."
Itzen:
"Clensing
a place that infused in suffering and bloodshed is a right and
proper use of it."
Itzen:
"The
difference between the names tends to be around if the sect thinks
it's to be 'used' or not."
Glentes: Wolf Cultist:
"Right.
Well, Lilium. Considering your circumstances, I don't see problem
with letting you stay here until they complete their task. You
probably shouldn't go outside, though. Let's see, I have some
women's clothing... for undisclosed reasons... so you can change
into something else if you want." He looks at you. "I see you've
been cleaned, but even if it's not dirty anymore, I figured you
might want something else. Oh, and we have..." He looks about, as
though realizing that he doesn't actually have Dryad food.
Itzen:
"The
Orb of Ayla is a gift from the Wolf to her followers, a show of
favor. The Tear is her sadness of the state of the world and a
gift to help right it."
Glentes: Wolf Cultist:
"Oh?
Interesting. I've actually heard both spoken by our own members. I
wonder why. Never really inquired before."
Lilium:
"You
needen't worry about me, I don't really eat or drink like the
others here."
Ra'ven:
"That's
too bad... She owns a bar and can get us drinks..." Ra gestures to
Lucky
Lucky:
"True."
Kaylen Fisher:
"Can
Dryads drink alcohol? It seems like it would be poisonous, but
it's poisonous to us too, really."
Lilium:
"I've
never tried? Plus it might look a little weird."
Kaylen Fisher:
"Hmm.
Yeah, feet in the beer. Maybe best tried in private."
Ra'ven:
"I
suppose my sister must have faked it?"
Lilium sets the pan of water on the
floor and puts her feet into it and the structure of what looks
like her shose beings to change uncurling into what look like
normal roots
Kaylen Fisher watches, clearly
fascinated. Then she grimaces. "Ok, I hope I'm not being creepy."
Lilium sighs as she leans back in a
chair, "Not at all. It's just normal for me."
Itzen:
"Some
beings are more popluar 'field studies' then others."
Kaylen Fisher:
"Ok,
good. Don't want you to be uncomfortable." The shrugs. "Back home
in Fisheries, there wasn't a lot of green of any kind, so the
whole phenomenon is interesting to me."
Kaylen Fisher:
*She
shrugs
Kaylen Fisher:
(it's
slightly early, but I think I'm going to need to beg off. I'm
getting pretty tired. -.-; )
vonel:
(( Not a problem ))
Riot:
(( No worries at all ))
vonel:
(( Need to figure out somehting for
food any ways ))
Kaylen Fisher:
(You
can certainly finish your statement if you want, though, von.)
Kaylen Fisher:
(Yeah,
I should also try to eat SOMETHING today before collapsing.
vonel:
(( my last two months ))
Kaylen Fisher:
(Hah,
starving buddies)
Lilium smiles at Kay, "When this is
over I might have something to show you then, if I do it now it
might draw some attation your goup doesn't want."
Kaylen Fisher:
"Well,
geeze. Intrigue me, why don't you?"
Kaylen Fisher:
(we
can wait until next time, though.
)
Kaylen Fisher:
(Thanks
folks.)
Kaylen Fisher:
(I
hope you have a great evening.)
