Ganaroth: Hi...
Riot: hi hi
Ganaroth: How are you?
Ra'ven: ohai
Riot: Annoyed at myself because I've still got a lot to do by Thursday
Riot: You?
Ra'ven: i ate a sandwitch by a river and made a token for funzies
vonel has connected.
Ra'ven: I am also looking at a box that used to have a cookie in it and being all, "dang I wish I had a cookie"
Riot: lol
Ganaroth: Sympathy. Being behind schedule sucks. I suggest procrastinating until the point is moot. As for myself... honestly, not a lot of idea how I'm doing, but I also can't just not show up forever.
Ganaroth: Gosh, I hate that box.
Ganaroth: Hey Vonel. Sup?
vonel: not much
Ganaroth: I've just been playing Cyberpunk all day. Haven't really been up to anything more strenuous. Hope you've been feeling alright.
Ganaroth: Well, I'm not wholly certain how to start things up again. The fight is over, but do we need to go over anything? To my knowledge, you're at the watch post above the prison, ready to drop in when you wish.
Riot: Short rest would probably be good after all that lol
Ganaroth: (Of course, feel free to take a rest.)
=^v^=: (( mebby some post-fight banter ))
Ganaroth: (I'm not opposed to it, certainly.)
Lucky: Took a short rest.

Io: "I didn't think of the possbility either, though perhaps I should have considered it. On the other hand, there seems to be an alarm of some sort near the tower spyglass. If we hadn't landed up there, I suspect they might have sounded it." They point at the brass plate with a single claw. "I don't blame you for the bad luck of the skirmish, but the strategy that it involved was sound."
Eileen nods
Io: "Are the rest of you uninjured?"
Lucky: "Just tired."
Ra'ven works her way back to the party, "Quite the run really. Vul would have, well not really killed me but be extremely upset had too much harm came to his favorrate dragon..." Ra remains upbeat, "I'm glad you are tough too..." she nods to Kaylen
Pell: "A few scrapes. Not too bad overall."
Kaylen Fisher: "Oh, not knowing when to quit is the thing people know best about me," she says, cheerfully. "Well, think we they know what we did?"
Kaylen Fisher: "I don't see anything unusual down there..." She peers over the cliff, down at the bare landscape of the prison.
Itzen: "If you all remain good to go. I am not paying you all to die for my cause, after all..."
Itzen: "The presence of the bell, however, is a bit intresting given how noone here went to go get help..."
Kaylen Fisher: "No, you're not, but you are paying us to do the job to the best of our ability. It'll have to be a closer call than that for me to just run. Besides, running in front of you would be REALLY embarassing. So, are we ready to get down there and spring your people." She frowns, staring at it. "...That is weird. I can see wanting some kind of conditioning that would prevent your men from breaking. I can even see them not realising that it would prevent them from going to get help. But that alarm is RIGHT THERE." She seems confused. "There's no way that they could have placed a compulsion with such a strong downside on their own men, is there? Not without realizing what had happened."
Eileen: "I have to agree."
Itzen: "I suppose depending on how we are getting out, we could test it... I could fly back here with my gryphon and activate it as a distraction."
Lucky: "A distraction sounds good."
Kaylen Fisher: "Not a bad idea for when we're running, but best not do it while we're still on our way in. I know this isn't on-mission or anything, but this conditioning bullshit is a little worrying to me. If it's not us, and it's not THEM, then who is it?"
Ra'ven: "A compultion that has a rather obvious and immediate upside but a sinister and not obvious downside sounds like a certain place who has been meddling up here, right?"
Kaylen Fisher: "It does, sure, but what's the purpose? As plots to bring about a society's downfall go, making Adhikaaran soldiers refuse to retreart sounds almost whimsical."
Kaylen Fisher: "It's like enforcing a stereotype past the point of destruction."
Ra'ven: "They refuse to abandon their posts even in defense of their lifes..."
Ra'ven: 'Perhaps they will also refuse to give aid ?"
Kaylen Fisher: "...wait, are we suggesting I might be right, and that's what is ACTUALLY happening? I was joking!"
Kaylen Fisher seems aghast.
Ra'ven: "Making you enemies unable to band together seems worthwhile. And the steriotype thing sounds, well.. funny?"
Kaylen Fisher: "...Ok, ok. I'm going to calm down, because that is scary as fuck, and we don't have anything more than speculation."
Pell: "Wait, are we thinking someone is doing this to sabotage them? Not them doing it so their soldiers hold their ground?"
Kaylen Fisher: "...Well, if it was done to help them, in two out of two cases, we've seen it bite them in the ass."
Ra'ven: "Not 'we' but it's me guessing..." she nods, "Also both."
Ra'ven: "My mother does invent things, like that new possession thing...."
Ra'ven: "Oh! Too bad we don't have anyone who's an expert on possession!"
Eileen waves her hand, "Best not to worry about it right now, it's not like we can chanage any thing about it and until we find the pesron that's been making this enchamentment all we can do is really guess and that could send us down the wrong path."
Kaylen Fisher: "I don't like the idea that your mom is lurking behind every rock, Ra. I mean, she might be, but it doesn't give us a lot of options to resist with. It seems like scattershot approach, too, but that might just be because they're trying to make it minimally obvious..." She mutters to herself.
Ra'ven: "I mean we didn't really see a compultion, but what if they were all somehow 'possessed' but only a little?"
Kaylen Fisher: "No idea. They seemed aware of their inability to retreat, and didn't like it, but what the internal structure of that looks like..." She shrugs. "I'll keep a eye out, but other than moving it to the "suspicious" column, I don't know that we have time to start a secondary investigation."
Riot: (( I had to go read through the logs to figure out if Pell knew about Ra's mother lol ))
Itzen hmms, "Well, if that were the case somehow... We might be wary of someone who happens to know these actions but isn't directly in control of the place, since alarms haven't been triggered either time it's came up?" a sigh, "But that boils down to a mere 'be careful' which as they say, " nod to Eileen, "Not exactly different from a normal plan."
Kaylen Fisher: (Oh, dang, didn't even think about it.)
Kaylen Fisher: (That, huh. That's a thing.)
Riot: (( he does, Ra told him when he agreed to the mission ))
Io: (Oh, cool. Thanks for checking!)
=^v^=: (( generally Ra doesn't want that to be a suprise for others, since that seems problematic to come up in a stressful situation ))
Io: "Hm. Then our plan continues." They pause. "If we discover further truth about what is happening here, shall we inform Dinesh and Samir? They have pull here, and if we discover more, they might be able to put it to good use."
Lucky: "That's what I recommend, yeah."
Itzen: "You trust them and they seem like, barring some reason I am unaware of, would deserve that information and perhaps act on it." a pause, "You do not want to tear down this government, correct?"
Io nods. "...very well, then. It sat poorly with me, to do nothing at all." They look about. "...The character of this place is dour, but the form of government is not beyond redemption. I would choose to change it, but what it has done does not mean that those living under it deserve to burn along with it."
Itzen: "The people in charge, the soldiers and those that patrol, they have a specific weakness, if the people wished to rise up, this would give hope and power, but..." she sighs.
Itzen: "We still have much to do to prevent the place burning much less usefully."
Io: "This weakness is one that would destroy both sides if it were so used, Itzen. Or should you wish the righteous liberators of this city to exploit the vulnerabilities of soldiers that are no longer masters of their own destinies? Even if something useful is built from such a victory, it will have been constructed on clay foundations."
A tiny, greenish spark lights in their eyes. "If it were to be used, best to free them, and gain their loyalty for the trouble." Then the little dragon gives a slight yelp, startled. "What was that? Something just... touched me."
Itzen: "Foundations that entirely deny vengance crumble as well, but I am not from here. I hear that people call for justice..."
Ra'ven: "Wasn't me"
Eileen looks around, suddenly on edge
Pell raises his glaive, energy crackling around the blade.
=^v^=: (( io having the way hilariouly higher passive perception anyways ))
Io: "...I think there may be a dragon nearby. Strong enough to have impinged on my consciousness."
Lucky: "Uh..."
Eileen: "That's a thing?"
Itzen: "Hostile?"
Io: "It's a thing.... yes, after a fashion. I didn't recognize it before, because this is the first time it's happened since... since I returned. Before, I would simply know of any dragon of sufficient power's presence, no matter where they were in the world. Unless the dragon had taken measures to conceal itself, at least. Now it is both weaker and less controllable. Before, it was always like a reflection in my mind of their own nature, but now it is as though my mind itself chooses to reflect them. I believe the dragon was a Green. I felt a rush of paranoia, and the desire to turn that paranoia on others, open them for manipulation." They shake their head. "Hostile? All greens are ultimately hostile, unless it is a truly remarkable individual. They simply take care to never show it until they believe the knife is already twisted. Still, they can be useful short-term allies. I don't think this one is even aware of us yet. I don't THINK."
Io: "I wish I knew where it was, though. Having something like that at my back doesn't please me either. Ugh."
Ra'ven: "Hopefully we don't end up fighting it. Dragons usually are quite problematic to fight and Vul would be really mad he didn't get to see it."
Io: "I hope not as well. We have enough to do."
Lucky: "Not a huge fan of the idea of fighting it, either."
Eileen: "Hopefuly if it does know about us then it's just chosing to watch and see what we do. From what you said it sounds like it isn't a fan of what's happening here either."
Itzen: "If its as paraonid as you say, it's possible we can point out that we are not currently it's enemies unlike those around it, if we are awash in both aspects of Her Greatest Gift..."
Itzen sighs
Io: "Hm. Well, that suggests the dragon isn't the one behind it, then. Excellent observation, Eileen."
Ra'ven: "You can't do some sorta mystical 'pulling rank' trick if needed, right?" she looks at Io
Io: "As much as I would wish otherwise, in all likelihood, the dragon here hasn't ever heard of me. From the feel of it, it's less than a thousand years old. Its grandparaents almost certainly wouldn't have hatched when I was imprisoned. It would feel no loyalty, assuming it ever would have."
Io: "If it DID feel such a thing, it would be an individual quirk, rather than something mystical."
Itzen gives a little weak chuckle, "I actually can do that with many things, dragons being a notable exception."
Io: "Thank you. I tried my best."
Kaylen Fisher: "Phew. Ok, then." She gets up from rifling through the pockets of the guards. "I've got their keys, just in case. Anything else?"
Itzen: "I would lock their weapons away and perhaps jam the lock."
Kaylen Fisher: (Wait, are they alive? It's not an issue, but were you trying to nonlethal them?)
Riot: (( Pretty sure they're super dead ))
vonel: (( Elieen wasn't pulling punches ))
Itzen pauses, "Actaully... let us gather a few of them."
Kaylen Fisher: (kk, just making sure.)
Itzen: "it's possible my allies are in enough condition to use them."
Kaylen Fisher: "Huh, not a terrible idea. I can grab their knives, at least. Not sure I can bring too much more, at least not without making a bundle of some kind. I don't have a bag of holding on me."
Kaylen Fisher: "I don't want to accidentally lose my grip on a half dozen swords just as we try to scale the wall."
Kaylen Fisher goes and collects more stuff.
Itzen: "Do be careful that the magic complution isn't carried on those knifes..."
=^v^=: (( also is there any potion remapping we wanna do or maybe surge moving? ))
=^v^=: (( pretty sure both Itzen and Io have comrade's succor despite neither having the button ))
Kaylen Fisher: (K, Imma just never ask if CS is available, ever again. Like, if it didn't exist, I'd have to give you a way of using it, so we might as well say it's there, right?"
Kaylen Fisher: )
Kaylen Fisher: (...That weirdly almost looked like I was angry or frustrated, so I hope it didn't come across that way.)
=^v^=: (( reminder, Comrade's Succor is a ritual that lets you pool up and redestribute healing surges, except it eats one of them, between allies ))
Kaylen Fisher: "Yeesh, if I didn't have sufficient reason to avoid cutting myself on someone else's knives before now..."
vonel: (( So we got 46, 45 after CS eats one to move around it looks like ))
=^v^=: (( vaguley important when Itzen has 2 surges and Lucky has 3 ))
vonel: (( Lucky's still got half her surges left. ))
Kaylen Fisher: ((If you feel like you need to redistribute, then you may do so. Up to you.))
=^v^=: (( somewhat funny that Itzen and Kaylen both have used 5 surges, despite Itzen also having bloodied regen ))
Kaylen Fisher: (yeah.)
=^v^=: (( I'm for making sure everyone has at least 4 surges left, but either way ))
vonel: (( I am counting the Bird for all of this, so everyone would get like 5 surges with 5 left over to go to who ever. ))
Kaylen Fisher: ((Heh, birb.)
=^v^=: (( bird doesn't count, bird has strange healing rules that I sorta forgot and has that many surges based on framework not rules ))
vonel: (( then 5 fall off and everyone get's 5 surges ))
=^v^=: (( that would be peak communism, ya ))
Riot: (( Pell still has 9 so he's fine ))
Kaylen Fisher: (Peak communism requires that Pell sacrifice for the good of the state.)
=^v^=: (( the idea that everyone splits the remaing surges evenly would drop Pell to 5 ))
=^v^=: (( ya that ))
Riot: (( Ah gotcha ))
vonel: (( yeah any one with more then 5 would drop to 5 and any one under 5 goes up to 5. ))
Riot: (( Whatever works ))
=^v^=: (( we also still have 4 of the actually strong heal potions, any prefrences on who to carry them? ))
Kaylen Fisher: (I only interjected because I had something funny to say. You can go with it or not as you actually wish. )
Kaylen Fisher: (This all being the case, I don't imagine that it's likely to be a big deal right now, so if you want, we can defer any of that bookkeeping for another time.)
vonel: (( I would click milestone button now for AP just so we don't forget later. ))
Kaylen Fisher: (A good idea, sure.)
=^v^=: (( without actual prefrences, I'd say Ra, Itzen, Pell and either Lucky or Kaylen ))
Eileen: You have gained 1 action point(s), 0 magic item daily power use(s), and 0 healing surges.
Ra'ven: You have gained 1 action point(s), 0 magic item daily power use(s), and 0 healing surges.
Itzen: You have gained 1 action point(s), 0 magic item daily power use(s), and 0 healing surges.
Io: You have gained 1 action point(s), 0 magic item daily power use(s), and 0 healing surges.
Kaylen Fisher: You have gained 1 action point(s), 0 magic item daily power use(s), and 0 healing surges.
Riot: (( Oh we get an AP? ))
=^v^=: (( after every second fight, more or less, ya ))
Lucky: You have gained 1 action point(s), 0 magic item daily power use(s), and 0 healing surges.
Lucky: You have gained 1 action point(s), 0 magic item daily power use(s), and 0 healing surges.
Kaylen Fisher: (Yup. Though that's a rough rule, because scheduling is the devil.)
Riot: (( godamnit ))
Pell: You have gained 1 action point(s), 0 magic item daily power use(s), and 0 healing surges.
Kaylen Fisher: (Is ok, you can probably just spend the extra one, right? Lol.)
=^v^=: (( ya, then short rest, also maybe gain -1 of them ))
Lucky: You have spent an action point.
Current APs:
1
Riot: (( just spent it, seems to be fine now ))
=^v^=: (( so we do cool parachute/glider/catbirding down into the jail now? ))
Kaylen Fisher: (That was the plan, as I recall. Ayalin ferries the group down a couple at a time.)
Ayalin 's feathers are soft and nearly fuzzy!
Kaylen Fisher: (Owlbirbs are very soft.)
From this vantage point, it's easy to see what portions of the upper level are illuminated, and which parts still lie within the darkness. It's not hard to locate a place to land; ironically, the safest place is in the largely darkened central section, away from the rows of cells and their flickering lights.
Eileen will head down first with someone else to keep watch was the others make there way down.
Io: "My senses are reasonable. I'll come with you."
Ayalin is slightly pouty but brings them down to the dark part in the middle
Io: ((cries) why pouty?)
Ayalin has their correct rider
Io: (OH. Well, I can't do anything about that. )
Ayalin also is a bit fidgetty around Ra, despite Izen's encouraging
Lucky and Pell will wait until everyone else is down, keeping an eye on their backs to make sure no one appears to follow them. Once they're all down, they'll follow.
Io: (provided that everone goes with, Ayalin has the group back on the ground, this time inside the prison, before many minutes have passed. While approaching from above, you were able to see several moving lights, probably being carried be guards on their rounds through the complex. While you don't really know how many are in each group, the patterns suggested that there are only two patrols moving through this level. You're not sure if the warden, Nosnra, is part of either of those groups, though, or if she might be on a lower level of the complex.)
Io: ((I think that was supposed to be just a comment at first, and then it became description without me realizing, so it looks weird...))
Ayalin returns to smallform as taking shots etc in this somewhat potentionally cramped area is not in their intrest
Io: (righ?)
Io: (Imma just move you all over onto that map, if that's okay. Just for my own peace of mind.))
Riot: (( sounds good ))
Your landing is all but silent. Without guards in immediate proximity to you, and without outside coverage of their blind spot, it seems as though you've evaded detection up until now.
Kaylen Fisher: "Ok, where first?"
=^v^=: (( did we have like notes on where they might be or map or something? ))
Kaylen Fisher: (Did Escrish specifically mention it? I don't want to accidentally give out contridictory info, but my recollection is that ten of them were up top, but five were kept in the lower cells, in the mines. By saying this, I have made it 100% certain that I have in fact given out bad info.)
Kaylen Fisher: (I'm really sorry about how slow I am. I'm trying, I promise.)
Riot: (( no worries ))
Kaylen Fisher: (Ok, so how can I assist?)
=^v^=: (( are we unable to look in and see the prisioners without going through a guard spot? ))
Kaylen Fisher: ((It's not completely trivial, but not impossible either. There's not a chokepoint of any kind, but there also only seems to be one entrance: through the main shaft. It could be possible to sneak by, but you probably can't do it multiple times without getting caught.))
Itzen: I'm not getting verticality I guess? we are in a sorta pit and the barred rooms to the east and west are cells right?
Riot: (( is that contraption in the middle how people get in and out of the mine shaft? ))
Kaylen Fisher: (I'm sorry)
Kaylen Fisher: (I obviously didn't describe it, and just thought I had.)
Kaylen Fisher: (Ok, I'm going to do that. Please, patience. Having a small panic attack.)
Riot: (( No worries at all ))
Kaylen Fisher: (The map you are currently on is meant to show the top of the Coalstone Prison mine. There are cells here on the surface, as well as another set below ground. The mining tunnels themselves run for miles underneath, but only some of them are still in use. The structures on the surface are basically for the worst prisoners: They are cold, damp, and exposed to the elements, and while it can't be said that the air below is fresh, it's not much better up here either. And at least down there, it's warm.)
Ra'ven hmms, "I wonder how magical these cells are...?"
Kaylen Fisher: "Um, rough estimate?"
Lucky: "Good question."
Ra'ven: "They appear to be bars and locks, and I am not blinded nor chained, so normally they'd be rather ineffective against my skills."
Kaylen Fisher concentrates. "There is some kind of enchantment, yeah. It's not real big though. I could tell if we get closer, but if there's only one, it's probably a basic dimensional anchor effect."
Eileen: "Nothing to worry about overly much then?"
Ra'ven hmms, "You would think they would only have those where problematically excape people would be..."
Ra'ven: "Suppose it's a fancy place though. And I can tell if it's one of those anchor spots rather quickly if it is..." she sighs
Kaylen Fisher: "It's the first thing I'd put in if I was going to try keeping people locked up. It's not like this is the middle of nowhere."
Lucky: "I'm glad it seems that you're built for this, then. Quickly is what we need."
Ra'ven waves her hand, "It's not like my skills are particularly common, and blindfolds and guards are rather more accessable... this is a fancy one."
Kaylen Fisher: "Ok, yeah, I was showing my own preconceptions there. You say prison, I immediately think "Teleporting." Still, I maintain that it's a logical decision."
Itzen: "If they are not affecting right here, it's possible that it's several smaller effects, and those are almost always centered in the affected area... It shouldn't be that difficult to disarm in a section if we can access it, and it stands that they SHOULD be since such runes require upkeep and checking, unless you pay way too much for them, then you probably STILL check them out of pride or paranoia."
=^v^=: (( CAN Ra teleport here? ))
Kaylen Fisher: (She CAN!)
Kaylen Fisher: "Ah, makes sense... ok, well, I'm just pointing you at the one on THIS level, mind you, because trying to figure something like that out through multiple feet of rock is not easy. But the anchor field on this level is over at the southeast corner."
Ra'ven telports slightly
Kaylen Fisher: "In case we are working under the theory of "putting our current public enemies in one spot.""
Itzen nods, "The upside is it's even harder to make such a field go through those layers of rock, so the source is likely on this level."
Kaylen Fisher: "Oh, there definitely is one on this level." She grimaces. "I just mean there might be one below, too."
Ra'ven: "I can go check that one out, I just don't really... do that magic looking thing?"
Kaylen Fisher: (wait, now I'm confused.)
=^v^=: (( Ra is sneaky and lockpicky so she can just try to sneak in, is her offer ))
=^v^=: (( to see if the people they are looking for are there ))
Kaylen Fisher: (Um, I can't tell, but I think I may have utterly failed to describe what I wanted. Essentially, my intent was to say that unless other information has been established, this upper floor contains ten cultist prisoners, with another five below. A section of the cells on this first level are warded, and some may be on the lower level as well. I'm not sure what Ra'ven is offering to do, specifically, but I probably gave you the wrong impression.)
=^v^=: (( the warded section up top, to go and see who's in it possibly ))
=^v^=: (( unless we have a decent idea that the warded section is the cultist prisioners to not need to check ))
=^v^=: (( in which case saying 'nah lets just break that section anyways' is cool and good ))
Kaylen Fisher: "Ok. Want us to go with you? Can't sneak as well, but I have other talents."
Riot: (( Lucky could go with, with her +14 to stealth ))
Kaylen Fisher: (My god, playing like this is intolerable. Not anything you folks are doing, though! My absolutely INSANE levels of shame and guilt are making me freeze up multiple times per sentence. I'm not joking, I almost blacked out once while trying to write a response. I DEFINITELY need to somehow get over this.)
Kaylen Fisher: (The two of you would make a decent infiltration team, then.)
Riot: (( sneakeronies ))
Kaylen Fisher: (So, is everyone else just waiting for Lucky and Ra to get back?)
Kaylen Fisher: (I mean, that's okay. Sometimes people get to wait.)
=^v^=: (( probably going to move the rest of the blob closer in cause of suddenly alarms blair escape chicandery ))
Riot: (( what ))
=^v^=: (( in case something goes wrong so they don't have to spend too much time catching up to Ra and lucky ))
Kaylen Fisher: (Ok, I'm going to take a stab and say that what you mean is that you are going to move the rest of the party closer together just in case suddenly the alarms in the prison go off, forcing everyone into an escape cutscene?)
Kaylen Fisher: (Right, gotcha)
=^v^=: (( ya, or a battle etc ))
Kaylen Fisher: (for future reference, there is no '
Kaylen Fisher: "d" in "chicanery."
Kaylen Fisher: (and I don't know why I pointed that out.)
=^v^=: (( I like imagining a 'derre' in the word so I can pretend its' doing silly shit that makes an ass out of yourself or othhers but that's not real words ))
Kaylen Fisher: (Eh, what are "real" words?)
Kaylen Fisher: (Ok, folks, is there any possibility of a second session this week? I want to do better by you than this, but tonight was pretty bad. I keep sitting here, trying to write something, and then freezing in shame and guilt over what has or has not already been said.)
Kaylen Fisher: And as a result, nothing got done at all.
Riot: (( I doubt it for me, I am supposed to be moving out no later than Thursday ))
Kaylen Fisher: I'm sorry.
=^v^=: (( I mean traditionally it's only maybe tomroow and thats without riot's immediate 'not really ))
vonel: (( I'm not even going be able to do game next saturday cause boss decied to schdeule me to work that night ))
Riot: (( I'd normally be fine but I have a ton of stuff to do still ))
Riot: (( Thankfully my friend is flying down to help on Monday ))
Riot: (( oof that sucks Von ))
Kaylen Fisher: (There's a fair bit of suck going on right now, as far as I can tell.)
Kaylen Fisher: (You have my sympathy, Von. And you as well, Riot.)
=^v^=: (( I suppose it's the second official day of xmas next saturday ))
Riot: (( say what now ))
Kaylen Fisher: (I can't keep up with this.)
=^v^=: (( xmas season starts nov 1s rgith? ))
Eileen: it actually started in september, but yeah box stores will have there x-mas stuff sarting to be set on nov 1
Kaylen Fisher: (I actually can't deal with this. Sorry.)
Ganaroth is disconnected.
vonel is disconnected.
Itzen: x.x
Table Fox (Itzen): 1
Itzen: fox
Riot: Ah, gotcha
Itzen: o well hopefully your move goes okay
