Vul: I rebooted server also switched which map it zoned into
Vul: well
Vul: rebooted the maptool on server, not server itself
Vul: that's sorta a thing I should probably do at some point that isn't now
Perra: Hey I can get in so I'm not going to complain
Vul: it's time to pet foxes!
Perra: need a dm
Vul: lies foxes can be pet without dms
Vul:
  Change shape (fox)
 Yep, a fox.
Effect: He's a fox now, unless he was already one.
Vul is a fox!
Vul: dm on way I guess
Perra: Is it frezzing up for him now?
Ganaroth has connected.
Ganaroth:
Ganaroth: How y'all doing?
Perra: I get that, I've got a friend over there to.
Vul: slightly caffinated
Vul: also watched some animes
Perra: Doing good.
Ganaroth: Yeah, I'm running on energy drinks too. Which animes? Glad you're doing well. Management treating you ok?
Perra: Yep
Ganaroth: Good. Because if they take one step out of line... (fiddles with pipe bomb)
Ganaroth: Dictatorship of the proletariat, motherfuckers! *Boom.*
Ganaroth: Actually more into a democracy of the proletariat, but that other phrase is more historical.
Perra: Unnessary, I know were all the flammables and accelerants are
Vul: I watched last ep of missfit of demon lord acadamy, new kenshin and also new trigun
Ganaroth: Yeah, but I want to help.
Ganaroth: I thought you didn't like Kenshin.
Ganaroth: Dammit, another delay. Super sorry. This one is very necessary.
Vul: newkenshin is a bit less unsufferable
Vul: demon lord s2 was sorat amusing and they sorta did a s3 teaser
Vul: they did 'just as planned' except as ther enemies planned, except ALSO THIS
Ganaroth: (back) Isn't that the best kind of "just as planned?" Fooling your enemy into thinking that they've won, except that you've predicted their every move, and countered it when the opponent wasn't looking?
Ganaroth: You know, pulling a Lelouche. I could also say pulling a Xanatos, except even his enemies plans are actually his plans.
Vul: important when a foe's power is dictating how reality works
Vul: there is quite a bit of 'letter of the law' rules abuses at the end
Ganaroth: Yeah. When your foe is omnipotent, but not passively omniscient, tricking them that way is basically the only option.
Ganaroth: See: The Darkseid vs. Thanos Death Battle. Exploiting weaknesses is the way to go.
Vul: anyways
Vul: foxes
Ganaroth: That one was epic, though I think the Saitama vs. Popeye one was even more entertaining to watch.
Ganaroth: Yes, foxes.
Ganaroth: Let's talk about foxes. Which type is your favorite, personally?
Ganaroth: I can't really decide between Corsac, Kit, and the classic Red.
Ganaroth: Probably because of my intense dislike of ranking things...
Ganaroth: Okay, the joke is over. Time to begin?
Perra: sure
Vul: artic foxees prob they is fuzzy
Ganaroth: No, that is very true. I'd probably like to hug an arctic fox the most, but I'm mostly considering aesthetics, since most foxes won't let you hug them. Anyway!
Perra: Tibetan fox cause it has the zero foxes given face.
Vul: they also do the snow dive thing
You wait in an unobtrusive spot near the wall separating the Goldfire district from the Ruby Palace grounds. The very heart of the city, even loitering so near the walls is risky, but this spot seems to be out of the sight lines of the guards, and you haven't been accosted. The wall is smooth, almost slick, as though the scarlet stone has been coated in some kind of slippery lacquer, and the top bristles with spikes; They are gilded, but are very much steel beneath. Beyond that lies the expanse of the palace grounds, and then the palace itself, home to the richest and the single most politically powerful man in the known world. The idea of what you're about to do looms large, now that you're this close.
Ganaroth: (Yeah, the snow diving is cute.)
Vul:
  Change shape (fox)
 Yep, a fox.
Effect: He's a fox now, unless he was already one.
Vul prob isn't a fox cause we were getting like, outfits
Vul: "This place is really fancy...."
Perra: "Yeah."
Vul: "It will be fun to see what it's like inside too..."
Vul seems excited
Ganaroth: (Hold on. I just wrote a big thing, and just now realized that my overlay of possible speakers doesn't include this one for some reason. Need to find the token.).
Ganaroth: (aaand it looks like the token is in my other file. Hold on while I get it. Ffs.)
Vul holds on
Ganaroth: (Lol, the left side of my screen is basically full of portraits now.)
After some time, Kaylen appears. Unlike her previous appearances, she's wearing leather armor, dyed a dark grey, with a few brass highlights, and carrying a sword, short and broad, almost like an oversized cleaver. She's got a broad smile on her face, but underneath that you can both tell that she's nervous as hell. "Soooo.... You, uh, started any sabotage without me? 'Cause, you know, I really wanted in on that. All the... excitement. Anyway, I brought Tumble with me. It took me forever to find him. Because I used a sending, and he gave me a riddle back as a clue." She sighs. "Anyway..." She turns around and gives a groan. Obviously, nobody is there. "Oh for fuck's sake, Tumble..." Laughter from above. A half-orc dangles from the roof of the building you're next to, upside down and using his legs as though hanging from a bar. Which, in defiance of the normal laws of physics, he is not.
Fallen: "Hey ho neighbors! What's going on? She said you were gonna slip into the palace, and that sounded like fun, haven't done it in a while. BIG criminals in there, but I try not to attract their attention. So, how's life been treating you? I heard something went wrong at the big get-together."
Perra: "We haven't started any thing yet and yeah were going to ttry and get in." She sighs, "The wolf cult started threating to kill everyone after the dean threated to kill everyone."
Vul: 'Ah ya, the silverfang? cultists were going to kill a bunch of people cause the dean said we should stop garmera from gviing birth."
Vul: "My sister sorta got them to leave though?" Vul seems a bit confused.
Perra shakes her head realizing how crazy that actully sounds having said it.
=^v^=: (( weren't we going to sneak in with like, robes of pepople who should be there after having some noble make a commotion? ))
Vul: "Also we weren't going to mess up the place, just... use the commotion of everyone trying to figure out whats going on to... uhh..." he looks a bit sheepish for a fox, "... figure out what's going on?"
Fallen: "Wow, the scarecrow actually decided to try an' scare? I wouldn't have believed that, but I guess you don't know a person until you psionically invade their mind. "Kay, so Garmera giving birth, that's crazy, but we can circle back to it. And your sister caused them to leave. Neat trick." He rubs his chin, still upside down. "I've hunted Silverfangs before. They're just about at the top level of people I'm willing to fuck with, so I've got no problem with this, an' they're bad enough that I get my happies from that part too. So, uh, you're doing the whole sneak in undercover thing? Good choice. The defenses there are INTENSE. I've nearly gotten caught like... three times. Closest escapes of my life.Anywho, yeah, Kay told me the plan. Don't worry, we took care of it. She told a fib to some uppity-up who was complaining at the Society, and he's about to start knocking on doors. Banging on gates, really, and probably causing a fuss between his men and the palace guards. Meanwhile..." He reaches up to the roof he's hanging on, roots around, fails to find anything, sighs, and hoists himself up again. After a moment he drops a neat package down. "Okay, three palace rasul robes, as ordered."
Vul seems happy about new fancy robe, "Ya... though she might have joined them? Everyone else sorta followed too."
Fallen: "Eh, well if she's actually joined them, I can deal with it later. And if it was a ploy, then great! Never tried that. Don't think I'd fit in."
Kaylen: "Tumble, no threatening your neighbors family members."
Perra looks over the robe, "Hope it'll fit okay..."
Fallen: "What? S'not a threat. It's just what happens. Not a personal issue. You get that, right, foxy?"
Vul: >.>
it does, in fact, fit okay. Almost suspiciously so, as though it was selected for you.
Vul: "I mean, you say it sorta like you'd deal with it violently..."
Fallen: "Well, that's 'cause it probably would be violent. I don't want to, but I don't make the rules." He shrugs. "But it's not going to come to that, no worries. I've met her. She's not the type. She might worship the big 'ol pooch, but she wouldn't go along with the things they do. I could tell that just by talkin' to her a bit."
Vul: "I mean, it is an act, but I don't know why really..."
Vul: "Normally that sorta comes out as we go along with it... but, well..." he gestures at Perra, "Not leaving her behind."
Vul 100% has put robe on during this talk
Fallen: "I dunno either! But she's probably got a good reason. We can find out later, after our planse hopefully don't mess each other's up." He nods seriously. "Never leave a buddy behind alone. That's a rule."
Perra hums happily a bit, "Normally I have to make all sorts of adjustments to get outfits to fit on me, this is really nice."
Vul's robe also fits very well, even being made for his height.
Vul: "Kinda too bad we gotta get rid of them after, huh?"
Vul does sound slightly pained at the thought
Kaylen has been putting her robe on too, and has hidden her cleaver-sword underneath some crates at the back of the alley. Her armor has vanishes; probably de-summoned.
Fallen: "Get rid of the robes? Eh, you can keep 'em if you want. I've got plenty, and it's not like they're enchanted or anything. The don't keep track of them."
Vul: "Well, like... they are pretty obvious and incriminating?"
Kaylen: "If you want, you can just fold them up and keep them as souveniers. If anyone breaks in and finds them, I sorta have a suspicion that would be the least of your worries."
Vul looks downcast a bit at that, also probably didn't bring his hammer and sheild
Fallen vanishes for a few moments before appearing in the alley with you, this time right side up. "Aw, don't worry, foxy. You can wear it at home. I ain't gonna judge. I sometimes play dress-up too. I swear!"
Perra tottaly plans on keeping hers. ^.^
Kaylen: ((Perfectly acceptable.))
=^v^=: (( lol I don't know why but Vul is proficent on like, war boomerang ))
Kaylen: "Ok. Perra, you stand out the most, but you're also the one with... I dunno. Whenever you talk, I get the feeling that you know something about ettiquette. If you could handle things if we're stopped, that would be great. Tumble, are you..."
=^v^=: (( I mean both Vul and Ra'ven sorta have odd elven accents too ))
Perra: "Oh... okay I can try."
Fallen: "Hey hey hey! I didn't tell you, so you wouldn't know, but I'm called Fallen right now. Long story! Very interesting, at least when you're living it. But anyway, yeah, I gots a robe, but I'm going to be inside the servant's tunnels, nearby to wherever you are. I know them better than the hallways anyway, an' there just aren't a lot of greenies in the palace. 'cept a few of the earth genasi, I guess, but I am clearly not that. Best stay away from bright lighting." He begins changing, in his case simply throwing the robe over his existing clothes. In defiance of logic once again, it appears to fit perfectly, and doesn't even look as though he's wearing his tattered leathers beneath.
Vul 100% is wearing his armor though
Fallen: "Don' worry albi, you got this. You're quiet, but you got goooood pronunciation. Plus you're pretty, and that don't hurt when striking up a conversation."
Vul also looks as though he's not wearing armor. You're not sure how, given your bulkier gear, but it's true. Some trick of very precise tailoring is disguising it, and you simply look as though you have a slightly stockier build.
=^v^=: (( it being not metalic and also having no acp proably helping slightly ))
Fallen: ((Probably, yeah. But even leather armor has noticeable bulk to it. It's not like wearing a leather t shirt. Somehow this robe makes it look like it's not armor, just more you.))
Vul dwarf nao
Vul probably has knife just in case
Fallen IS wearing the equivalent of a leather t-shirt, patched over and over again, even inlcuding cloth in places. It's not so much armor as a fashion statement. And that statement is "I'm homeless, but own a sewing needle."
Fallen: ((Having a knife is probably a good idea. I mean, you never know.))
Vul: "Do we have like a good idea on where we are going once in the paremeter?"
=^v^=: (( baba is you style 'vul has knife' ))
Fallen: "I can show you an easy way in." He snickers. "This time of day, the guards on this one side entrance will be drunk as a Mekanice janitor. I check occasionally, and nobody's caught them at it yet. They are damn lucky. Anyway, I figure Albi hear just sweet talks us inside, me behind her, 'cause she's tall an' I'm not, and then we split for the target." He pauses. "Yeah what is the target? I just know "info.""
Vul: "Well, like, the professor probably got a written order..."
Vul: "So probably a study where an order like that would be written"
Kaylen: "That's good thinking. Know a place like that, Tum--Fallen?"
Vul: "Plus if we don't find anything that becomes super suspicous too..."
Fallen: "Do I know a place like that? HAH! I know THREE places like that!" He grins proudly, apparently unaware that he's just told you that the mission was more difficult than you thought."
Fallen: "Hmm... or is it four? One is sorta attached to another of them, so I'm not sure if I should be counting that twice..."
Vul: "That's... sorta excesivly lots of writing places?"
Fallen: "Eh, we'll say four. Three normal, and one small one attached to the north-edgeward one."
Vul: "I mean fancy and the like, but... all your things would be spread to other places and it'd be annoying to have even servents go fetch them..."
Vul: "No wonder they are so busy."
Vul: "Say, you woudln't happen to know which ones the Emir wouldn't be in round now?"
Vul: "I'm pretty sure it'd be bad to run into them."
Perra: "Probably has a private one and then differnt ones for meeting differnt people of differing ranks... actually sounds kind of normal.."
Vul: o.o
Fallen: "Dunno why he needs TWO studies in the same place, 'an doesn't even have a normal door for it, but hey, I'm not an Emir. He probably has a special brain or something." He nods "Yeah, it's probably really inconvenient. Maybe he has the servants collect his writing afterwards, and put them in one place, and he just writes in whatever room is closest?"
Fallen: "Oh, hey, Albi. Your idea sounds even better."
Fallen: "See, this is why you're the obvious leader here."
Vul nods, "The only royal castle I've ever been in before was only sorta 2 rooms so not typical...."
Perra blushes a bit
Fallen: "Anyways, yeah, I know where he'd be. Afternoon meditation, in the solarium. He'll be there for a bit still. Every day, no exceptions, and I'm talking even during emergencies. It's super important to him, I guess."
Vul nods, "Meditation is like that."
Perra nods, "We should get going then, would rather not run in to him."
Vul nods, "How are we going to set off our annoyed noble? Or are they already at it?"
Kaylen: "Agreed. And, following up on what you said, Perra, don't you think that the private study is probably where we'd find anything incriminating?"
Perra: me nods, "Yeah any thing that would hurt his image or reputation would be kept some were private."
Kaylen: "Oh, trust me, he's already well and truly set off. I let slip that the Emir is considering conscripting all of the dignitaries and their men for the duration of the crisis. It's... technically a legal right that he has, and you implicitly agree to follow it by entering the city. It's even on the customs forms, telling you that you're now a temporary citizen yadda yadda. But actually using the law that way would be incredibly stupid. This guy is some big Cor Falca city lord, and he's not accustomed to being given any mandates at all."
Kaylen: "He's probably half a breath away from calling up whatever other city lords he's friendly with and declaring war at this point. So I'm pretty sure the fuss will be pretty intense."
Vul: "I hope it doesn't come to that at least..."
Vul hmms, "What sort of order do people in these robes walk in? Should we be carrying something?"
Kaylen: "It won't. The Emir will eventually respond to this personally. He'll have to, and when he does he'll tell him than no such thing is happening, The lord will still be pissed about the notice at the conference, but he'll go back down to that level soon, and then he'll just be mad at me. Except uh oh, that enchantment that sends someone magically diguised back to their true form only works at the threshold, not the whole damn observatory like some people think. So he'll have a fun time looking for the middle-aged gnomish man that tipped him off. Yeah, we should probably be carrying something. The Rasul are palace messengers on paper, even if they''re used more as general purpose aids. It would be normal to be carrying a message or package or something, and that would also decrease the chance of someone trying to give us an order. Good thinking. As for order... I don't know." She looks at Fallen.
Fallen: "What order they walk in? Uh... whoever walks fastest is in front? I never really paid attention to that. I normally just try to avoid them, and occasionally deliver a message or polish someone's sword if I'm caught."
Vul:
Perra: "Couldn't hurt, it's not like they'll want to read it and it'll give us something to carry."
Vul: "Plus people hide codes in poetry sometimes right?"
Vul seems more hopeful then certain
Fallen: "They do group up, if that's what you mean. It don't look like they have rules against socializing on the job, as long as they're doing the job. Groups form and break apart while they're walking. It's normal." He nods. "Oh hey, that's a decent idea. I know how to do it, too. Anyone got blue pigment and a brush on them? Or, you know, magic that can permanently make two blue lines?"
Vul has a brush and an inkpen, probably no blue
Vul even has an inkpen that's not a secret super artifact!
Kaylen: "...You're crazy, Tum-Fallen. Why? Why would we bring that. She groans in frustration. "Hold on." Her face screws up in concentration, raises her open hand palm up, and a shape slowly forms, coalescing from a kind of amorphous white blob into a small bottle of ink. "I'm not actually very good at this, so if you could hurry?"
Vul offers both caligraphy brush and inkpen
Vul: Also 3 scrolls of draconic writing that's probably poetry!
Fallen: "Ha, I remembered you could do that. She's actually terrible at it though. It just poofs away if she loses her concentration. Anyway, all you got to do is draw a thick blue line around one edge of the scroll, and another one at the very top of the INSIDE of the scroll. It also needs to be sealed, but there don't have to be a mark on it. They'll just open it themselves to see if the line is there, and that'll be that. If they even care, I mean you're messengers carrying messages."
Kaylen: "Screw you, Fallen," she says, gritting her teeth as she begins to brush her magically, or possibly psionically, created ink onto the scrolls.
Vul is totally the sort of person to be carrying around sealing wax though
Vul waits for scrolls to be prepaired
Kaylen: "Ok, that should do it." She exhales in relief, and the bottle first turns into goo, running down her arm, and then vanishes entirely. The ink on the paper remains, however. "Wow. I haven't done that in a while, and I think my brain is out of shape."
The scrolls are now marked as Fallen explained, and he happily gives you a double thumbs-up to indicate that.
Fallen: "Ready? What are we doing? Over the wall, under the wall, through the wall?" He tries to think of another option. "Uh... I guess through the gate, but there's probably a pissed off lord clogging things up. Still, might be easier if, uh, you don't have much climbing and jumping experience."
Fallen: "Your sis, she could roof-run. Not the way I do it, but it worked for her all the same. Dunno what you're packing, Foxy. I know K can't do it. Can barely put her pants on, that's the kind of clumsiness we're talking about."
Vul: "Well, err... wouldn't it be a bit obvious if Perra was to fly over?"
Vul: "I can turn into a bird."
Perra: "Depends on were I fly over, can't have guards watching every part of the wall."
Kaylen: "...Thanks for that. And yeah, I expect that it would be obvious. I imagine the guards are fairly alert regarding flying intruders. It's the obvious path in." She looks to Fallen.
Fallen: "Yeah! There's absolutely a place. Right up at the gatehouse! The guards will be so busy, you could probably fly a dozen dragonborn over before they notice, 'cause the ones using the detection wards will be down there, helping out with the clusterboink."
Vul: "So how will she get in then?" points to K
Vul: "I mean I might be able to carry her if I'm not a bird?" he looks unsure, "Never tried honestly?"
Kaylen: "It might help that the lord is also a Dragonborn, as are most of his men. You won't stand out too much while approaching. Trust me, even if people see that robe, they'll forget a face they can't really read in an instant and just lump it in with the others. And because the guards are probably racist assholes, I will bet you all the money I have that they can't tell one dragonborn from another." She thinks for a moment, and smiles. "I'm returning from the Society with a message for the Emiral castellan. I'll show them this scroll... these marks mean something like high priority, right?" Fallen nods. "Someone will let me through quick enough. Then I'll get over to that side entrance."
Kaylen: "Honestly, just one rasul showing up at the gate is a lot less suspicious than a whole group anyway."
Perra: "Okay sounds good."
Kaylen: "So Vul can shapeshift, Perra can fly over near the gate, while the guards are distracted, I'll walk through that gate, possible even adding to the distraction a bit, and Fallen will... I don't know, do whatever it is that he does. Yeah, it does sound good. Ok, the entrance is where?"
Fallen: "Spinward and edgeward side, tucked behind some topiaries, or whatever they're called, inside this little nook. If you just follow the palace walls, you can't really miss it. Well, as long as you're looking for it. If you see two guards who are having a REALLY good time, you'll know you've found the right place."
Vul: "That's a sorta disturbing landmark."
Fallen: "Hey, I don't make the rules. Fish gotta swim, wyverns gotta fly, and these guards apparently gotta get drunk at midday and sometime make out. Laws of nature, Foxy."
Vul: "Well, both for it being that regular and also for there being guards in the path."
Fallen: "Don't worry about that. Perra'll just sweet talk our group right past them. At least, as long as you're planning on making this a ghost mission. You know, one where they never even know you were there? Alternatively, we could just knock them out. Probably wouldn't be that hard. Palace guards are actually pretty tough, but they'll be drunk, and possibly without some of their armor on, so I'd bet on an easy win from ambush."
Fallen: "Sometimes I think about leaving a note, either for them or the other guards telling these two to straighten up and do their damn jobs, but then I remember how convenient this is."
Vul: "probably should try to talk if that's the options."
Vul: "Also that would be a sorta mean note."
Fallen: "If you have other options, I've got the normal amount of ears."
Perra: "I've never tried to sweet talk any one before... but I can give it a try..."
Vul: "They might not be there also they are probably sorta drunk if they are?"
Vul pats Perra's shoulder, "You'll do fine. Plus we can both fly away if worse comes to worse."
Fallen: "Aw, you don't have to SWEET TALK sweet talk. Didn't mean to give that impression. I just mean you bamboozle them a bit so they let us in." He shakes his head. "Naw, they're always there. I've never even seen them take a vacation or nothing. Probably because they're motivated by the booze and each other to be there."
Fallen: "The drunk part, though?" He briefly looks around and sighs. "Can't see the clock tower from this alley... but anyway, at this time of day, you can count on it. They don't black out, but they definitely start slurring they're words an' stuff."
Fallen: *their.
Perra sighs, "Let's just go."
Fallen: "Ok, I'll see you at the entrance. Probably hiding in those topiaryiary things."
Fallen: (topiaryiary is not a typo, that's how he says it.)
=^v^=: (( typoearary ))
Fallen: (Actual Lol)
Fallen scuttles up the wall of the building across from the palace, and disappears over the edge of the roof. You're not sure exactly what he plans to do there, because, by law, all buildings adjoing the Ruby Palace must be no more than half the height of the palace walls. It won't be much of a help if he tries to jump. Kaylen shrugs, and takes one of the scrolls (provided that you relinquis it.). "Ok. Perra, let's get over to the gate. See you on the other side, Vul. Always wanted to say that."
Vul totally does relinquish
Kaylen: (Thank you very much.)
Vul probably goes back to holding Perra's hand to said nook anyways
Kaylen: (Fair enough.)
Vul will get his use out of his endure elements xP
Kaylen walks toward the gate with Perra, (and apparently a diguised Vul?) You can hear the commotion well before it comes into view. The gatehouse is swarming with guards, and they do not have the superior, dismissive attitude that they usually present to outsiders. No, they are absolutely serious, and treating this as a genuine threat. No blades have been drawn, that you can see, but literally everyone has their hands on a weapon of some kind. About thirty palace guards, and roughly thirty mostly dragonborn Cor Falcan Corsairs. (A rank equivalent to knighthood, achieved by only the best of a noble's personal guard. These ones are all carrying the badge indentifying them as such.) Their shouting fills the air like a drawn-out explosion, until an enormous, booming voice overpowers the argument. "Enough! This will not stand! You will let me through. I will speak with the Emir. And if not, if you continue to block me from doing so, I will immediately declare WAR on Si En Kelar. The league of five will break apart, thousands at least will die, and one of our cities well be a smoking pile of ash and glass before it's finished. And that will be YOUR fault! You, right now, are the only ones who can stop this war. So, do you want to heroes who saved your city? Or would you like to be the direct cause of the worst thing that's ever happened to it? CHOOSE!"
The voice is intimidating. It's the voice of someone who gets what they want, and follows through with both his promises and threats. Though loud now, it can drop to a whispery rasp either when he is sharing a secret, or explaining a punishment. Though you've been apart for a long while, Perra, it's hard to forget the voice of your father.
Perra stops walking and seems to be frozen to the spot, "Oh no...."
Vul is in his robe but not turned into a bird as of yet
Vul tilts his head, '...what? The war thing?"
Kaylen: "What's wrong?" She stops short as well, her expression very, very worried. "Did the plan just fall apart? Did you see something stopping you from making the flight?"
Perra shakes her head and seems like she's looking for a way out, "Tha...that's my father."
Vul: o.0
Vul: "He seems really mad... also would he recognize you sneaking by?"
Kaylen: "...Oh. Well, fuck me. Uh, so I just grabbed the meanest looking bigwig at the society I could find for this. I did NOT know he was your father."
Perra: "You didn't chose poorly... also I had no idea he was here."
Kaylen: "We didn't have a long conversation, and I wasn't even facing him at the time. I was, you know, "checking his papers." He might recognize my voice, though."
Kaylen: "Well, if your father is a goddamn city lord, the chances of him making the trip are pretty damn high."
Vul snerks, "You are sorta a princess then..."
Kaylen: "It's good that he didn't recognize you at the speech... wait, what? Princess?"
Vul: "Well, assuming he can declair war and all, basically the same as a king, also her father right?"
Perra blushes, "Vul stop..." She sighs, "The reason you seemed to think I had a way about me is cause I'm a noble."
Kaylen: (Oh, fuck, sorry, I genuinely thought you were talking to Kaylen, and just figured it out like a moment before Perra spoke again.)
Kaylen: "Well, I'm not going to start curtsying and calling you by titles now, after talking to you normally all this time. But I get the feeling that you don't want me to do that anyway. Runaway, maybe?"
Vul nods ,"Probably good, though if we find something good we might wanna get it back to that guy?"
Perra: "Let's just say having magic made me the family blacksheep."
Perra: "But I can't go up to the gate now... he'd kow it's me right away."
Kaylen: "As long as you keep me out of it... I was disguised, of course, but I don't know how good he is at seeing through illusions, so I tried to limit my non-magical exposure to him too. Still, if he finds out, I'm a dead woman. But maybe getting him first look at something interesting, he'll forgive and forget." She purses her lips. "His attention is occupied. He's got a bunch of bodyguards, but they're all looking at the palace guards, and vice versa. If we're quick and don't draw attention, I still think we can make it. I'm the only one who actually has to go through the gate."
Kaylen: "Besides, he's not expecting to see you here. That's psychologically powerful."
Vul nods, "We can go around and over at that nook."
Kaylen: "Right. Just get up close enough to reach the blind spot..."
Perra nods, "We can give it a try."
Kaylen: (I would like you both to roll both a stealth and a bluff check)
Kaylen: (Stealth to not attract attention, bluff to seem like you belong. The DCs will reflect the situation.)
Perra:
  Stealth : Rolled 17.
Perra:
  Bluff : Rolled 14.
Vul:
  Stealth : Rolled 8.
Vul:
  Bluff : Rolled 27.
Kaylen: (Oh, I guess Vul doesn't have to make a stealth check, since he's in Perra's pocked, he would just use hers.
Vul could be ya
Vul is not stealthfox
Kaylen: (I thought you said you were, is all. If not, tell me.)
=^v^=: (( vul was going to change into small critter to fly over wall, but was staying in berobed outfit till then, I mean if we were sneaking off he probably would turn at that point to be less obvious ))
=^v^=: (( since his stealth is actually kinda bad except in an extremely specific use (not being tracked) ))
Makes sense. Unfortunately, your stealth check fails, then, and one of the bodyguards notices you approaching, and puts out a hand in warning. "You don't want to come any closer, believe me." You don't recognize him. Either he was elevated after your escape, or he's a mercenary.
Kaylen: (You means Perra, sorry.)
Dragonborn Corsair: "If you're carrying messages, they're gonna wait. Nobody gets close to the City Lord right now."
Dragonborn Corsair: (You all made you bluff checks, so nobody seems to think your presence is unusual.)
Perra nods, "Ah yes sorry... what's going on if you don't mind me asking?"
Dragonborn Corsair: "The boss is angrier than I've ever seen him. I mean, he used to be angry all the. Calmed down a bit since then, but this is worse than anything I saw even during that period. I guess some declaration was made that he took a lot of offense to, and now he's trying to get in to see the Emir and tell him off. But the guards can see he's angry just as well as we can, so they aren't letting us in. And that's just making him angrier."
Dragonborn Corsair: *all the time.
Dragonborn Corsair talks to you with a friendly enough tone, but his hand remains on his weapon, and his eyes continually dart about, clearly not just looking at your face. Not in the way some disgusting people do it, though. He's watching for movement.
Vul is probably if being a bird disguised as a carrier pidgeon or the in-universe equilivant
Dragonborn Corsair: "Look, when I said that you don't want to get closed, that wasn't me threatening you. I mean, a little bit, but mostly it's a warning. I very much pity the first member of the palace staff that tries to go through us."
Perra: "I see, I hope it get's sorted out soon. I'll find somewere else to wait, don't want to keep you distracted."
Dragonborn Corsair: (Vul is not disguised. We establised that when I asked, literally, if he was transformed. The fact that he is not is the reason this conversation is happening.)
=^v^=: (( k! ))
Perra gives a polite bow before walking off back down the road/path.
Vul scurrys after Perra
Dragonborn Corsair: "That's a good idea. Go get something to eat." He turns his attention back to the gate.
Perra -.-
Kaylen: "Ok, he bought it, I think. As we walk away, just scoot into that nook while he's not watching. Me? I'm still doing the walk-through-the-gates plan. Your Dad is going to be pissed at me, but I guarantee I've experienced worse."
Kaylen: "I'll just circle around this building, and walk up from the other side. Completely different person."
Vul: "I mean if we are accosted by the guards in the nook we can say quite truthfully we are avoding the large amount of angry dragonborn at the gate...."
Kaylen: "That's a fact. Though the one we talked to didn't seem all that angry. Maybe he's a merc, instead of a full time guard. That would explain why he doesn't seem to actually care about the insult to his master. Or maybe he's just very chill."
Vul: "I mean he sounded like the sort who'd actually follow an order to do angry things by the actually angry person though."
Perra: "Either way he didn't seem to know me, hopfuly see you on the other side."
Perra heads for the nook.
Vul critterrizes once out of eyeshot of people on way to nook
Kaylen: "Also true. And yeah, see you..." she goes for the fist bump, but you've already turned away, and don't see it. She sighs. "Every time. Oh well." It's a tiny whisper that Vul barely hears before she walks away too.
vonel: (( now perra's going to feel bad ))
=^v^=: (( no frosty fist bump for Kay ))
Near to the gatehous is a tiny nook. An architectural flaw that would allow perhaps a single person, or two small ones, to stay out of the line of sight of any guards. It wouldn't surprise you if they didn't even know about this gap in their perception.
Ganaroth: (Well, Perra doesn't know about it (passive perception), so she'll only be sad if Vul tells her.)
If things proceed according to the plan, Perra should be flying over while nobody is looking in that direction. The nook is great, but when you fly over the wall, you'll be in plain view. Luckily to the local guards are VERY distracted.
Ganaroth: (*the to in Luckily to the is a typo)
=^v^=: (( alas I think this is the edge of consiousness avaiable to me, aka sleepi ))
vonel: (( Getting close to that myself ))
Ganaroth: ((No problem. The group has a fight incoming, so we'll have time to finish in another session.))
vonel: (( Sounds good. ))
Ganaroth: (Cool. Just one of you choose a morning, and I'll be there, probably.)
Ganaroth is disconnected.
Vul glad not having to do fallback bluff on nook guards as of yet, plus is a critter to not
vonel is disconnected.
