Riot: hi hi
Rai Patience Cantor: Yo.
Ganaroth: Sup?
Riot: How's your head feeling?
Ganaroth: Just fine now.
Riot: Good to hear
Riot: Are we gaming then?
Ganaroth: I don't want to jinx myself into getting another one now, though, lol.
Riot: lol fair
Ganaroth: Yeah, I'd like to.
Riot: Sweet, same
Vul: ha I might have managed to void my tv's warrentee what is already worn out and made it stop auto-dimming on screens
Ganaroth: Well, that sucks.
Ganaroth: My sympathies.
Riot: Yeah, oof
vonel has connected.
Riot: Also, been working on a piece of Lucky with the new team colors
Riot: Nowhere near done because I will pull my hair out and change it iteratively for at least another week
Ganaroth:
vonel: hello
Riot: hi hi!
Ganaroth: (me, successfully no longer playing Hades.) How is everyone?
Ganaroth: ...Aside from Akaiku's potentially late TV.
Riot: Exhausted from work but good. You?
Vul: this change is good, not bad
Vul: voiding warentee on out of warrentee tv to make it stop doing an anoying thing
Ganaroth: A little weird. Tired, but in my case from waking up too early because of headache. And I'm having trouble making decisions quickly, which might be related to the tiredness, but regardless ends up with me frozen in spot periodically trying to figure out what my next move it. Especially when it doesn't matter at all.
Ganaroth: Ah. Ok then. G'luck!
Ganaroth: (Cue me standing in between the soda fridge and the normal fridge, debating on whether to grab a nectarine or a soda, knowing full well that I will be having both, so the order I retrieve them in is irrelevant.)
Riot: The ol' soda or nectarine conundrum
Ganaroth:
Ganaroth: So, are people ready to play some?
Vul: sure
Riot: Sure!
vonel: sure
Ganaroth: Cool.
Last time on D&D, the group, let's face it, chatted with Patience about your rad new team and its dapper threads. That's what happened. I believe that you decided on acquisitions/retrieval as an area of expertise, the name "Wolf's Eye Acquisitions," and the colors red, gray, and black. Yeah, I know. Very heroic. But at least now people will know how to hire you.
(I am making fun of myself for the content, not you.)
Rai Patience Cantor: "I'll prepare everything. As for the rest, remember that the summit officially begins in 3 days. If there's anything pressing you'd like to do in the meantime, however, you probably should. Once it all begins, we'll likely be tremendously busy."
Ra'ven likely will show up with her wierd yawntouched aquantence who was looking for the ghost
Rai Patience Cantor: (sorry for that delay. Had to look something up.)
Lucky: "At this point I just want some sleep. I am very over being attacked by weird basement necromancers and their giant blood pools."
Rai Patience Cantor: "Yes, that would make sense, wouldn't it. Well, I'll not keep you." Her pen almost manages to touch paper again before a loud, cheery voice can be heard from the foyer.
Razorclaw Stalker: (This token is a stand-in, because I'm way too lazy to have made one, or even find a good picture. Suffice to say, the individual here appears to be a half-orc, and notably on the short side, standing at about 5'4" with a wirey build. He's dressed in a crazy patchwork of what seems like homemade leather armor, patched and resewn again and again. One tusk is rather bigger than the other, and almost always visible through his grin.) "Wooo, look here. You weren't wrong about being here legit. There's a whole bunch of things here that I don't remember. I mean, still could use some paint, maybe a few nails, a solid block of gold to pay for it, etc. But really, great. And this way means nobody is gonna come and thump you out of the place! So lucky!"
Ra'ven nods, "Yep, plus got a bunch of people here now as wel."
Lucky: "What is happening?"
Eileen: "Got me."
Ra'ven: "Oh, hey," she nods to the orc, "That is Lucky." She turns to Lucky, "He's here to see his friend."
Fallen: "Yah, I hope so. I mean, the hell did one person like me need all this space for by themselves, am I right? Well, not just for me, but Wan doesn't really take up space, so it doesn't count. Right Wan?" He jumps a bit into the air, slapping his hand forward in a high-five at nothing visible at all. "Oh, hey, look, a lady with swords! Pleased to meet ya! I'm Fallen, if it's worth anything. Ain't, financially, so don't get your hopes up, right Ra?"
Ra'ven nods, "I mean, you probably could get a job with how fast you jump..."
Lucky: "Uh, nice to meet you?"
Ra'ven looks around a bit and spys Vul, "Oh, that's my brothe Vul..." she frowns a bit looking at him, "..Rough basement?"
Fallen: "She ran into me on the rooftops a ways from here, and we got to talking, and hey, crazy coincidence, I actually used to live here. Note that I use the word "live," instead 'a saying I owned it or rented or nothing, which is why I got kicked up last time. Buncha goobers decided they were gonna dig up the basement or something, so they gave me the boot. Then, I don't know, probably died. Didn't stay to watch that part." He thrusts his hand forwards Lucky in greetings. "Eh, the jump'n. Years of experience, and the unholy mutating effects of an eldritch portal to a world unimagined by sane though. No big deal."
Clarity: "It wasn't the best."
Fallen: "Well, I coulda told you that. Nobody ever asks me though. So, hey, uh... if you ever got a spare room or somethin, dunno what you're doing with the place. But if you ever do, maybe make one with a whole bunch figurines and toys an' stuff? You know, just to be Wan's room. He likes that stuff. Saw him bounce a ball around for four days straight once."
Fallen: "Well. Uh huh. Makes sense. Damn shame, but there it is." He looks to the rest of you. "Well, I just had Ra'ven here bring me here to say hi to Wan. Maybe you'll let me in, occasionally, to talk with him? Or I could live in a crawl space, I could do that too."
Riot: (( brb ))
Fallen: "Either way, you did your part. Now, there's probably SOMEBODY that needs to get thumped right now." He looks around at the others, his grin slipping awkwardly before rallying. "Uh... yeah, the more I think about this, the worse an Idea it sounds like it was. Uh, hi, I'm the kook who lived here before you, now I guess I'll stop bothering you." He scratches his scalp intently, muttering something under his breath about -britches- of all things.
Vul hmms, "I mean, we sorta decided to start a company here, not entirely sure we aren't hiring?"
Vul: (is patence around?)
Fallen: "Well, I'm not good at everythin,' and people can find me to be... a lot, I guess? And I've got my own hangups and backstory, right? Depend on what you do, it might not work out. But, well, I have decided that I will be taking applications. So, shoot."
Fallen: (Patience is coming around now.)
Vul: "I mean, Ra'ven says you jump good, which is a pretty high bar to clear... And we are sorta making a treasure hunting thing..."
Lucky:
Fallen: "Well, I'm a highly sought after and presitigious vagrant, after all. I only have so much time, so the best causes get my attention first, right? Ooooh, treasure hunting? So, is the a metaphor or a euphemism of any kind? You all going to find the real treasure?" He pauses, then says in a loud stage whisper: "It's friendship."
Fallen: "I'm a good jumper, a good thumper, and my elbows are triple jointed. My favorite food is lemonfish. I'm 27 years old. I may or may not have an evil twin..." He trails off. "Yeah, I'm doing it again. Sorry. Ha, everything ain't as easy as it looks, right? Look, uh, since my good buddy Ra mentioned it, I don't suppose you've got some work? Just a little part-time position, maybe. Pay for food while I look for criminals to thump. Oh, I could be a maid, right? I can reach high places easy. It's true."
Vul: "Hmm, he likes fish..."
Fallen: "Why not? Fish is good, and other kinds of meat are expensive here. Do I look like I live in a mansion in the goldfire quarter?" He looks around. "Not anymore."
Lucky: "Not all criminals deserve to be 'thumped'. A lot of them, especially on the outskirts of this city, are just people struggling to make it through another day."
Fallen looks genuinely stricken. "Wha... aw, no. No, no no. Please, no, that wasn't what I was tryin' to say! It's the people who're making things that way that are the criminals. Look, Ra told me about the Raven's Roost folks already. I'm with you guys! World ain't black an' white, there's room for discernment and perspicacity and nuance an' all that in my thumpin' doctrine."
Clarity: "Sorry, I think she's just tired. We had a rough day. Basement full of ghoulies, you know?"
Lucky rolls her eyes.
Fallen: "Lemme tell you, shitty guard lieutenant who shakes people down got a lot more to fear from me than just... someone... shaking ya down. Normal person does that, it's a crime, right? Guard does it, it's TWO crimes, so that's got priority, right?"
Clarity: "So, I'm sorry. Who is Wan again? Is that the spirit that inhabits part of the house?"
Fallen: "Oh yeah, Wan's the ghosty. Friendly, loads of fun, knows how to bake. He cheats at cards, though, so don't let him trick you into playing. Sorry Wan, I would've been, watchacallit, an accessory, if I hadn't warned 'em."
Fallen: "We hung out here together during some days that weren't great. And a few that were ok."
Rai Patience Cantor finely breaks her silence. "This is absurd. Ra'ven, You have llterally only had your bags in a room for a single day, and you are already bringing home... people." Her face contorts with faint scorn. "I don't know what you were thinking. I'm not hiring someone whose capabilities are unknown, and being a "good jumper" doesn't immediately make you stand out, considering that Vul can FLY. If you want to arrange an interview later, I might be able find something, but I'm certainly not discussing it now of all times, and certainly not without some kind of proof that you'd be able to perform to our standards."
Rai Patience Cantor: (finally)
Lucky: "Can't hurt to let him visit his friend for a bit at least, can it?"
Rai Patience Cantor: "...you're probably right. I'm going to get Tyellenthi and Abner. They should be able to keep an eye on him while he visits. He doesn't get the run of the place."
Lucky: "That sounds fair to me."
Lucky: "Plus it could be good for us to make friends with Wan, and I imagine he could help with that."
Lucky: "If we're gonna be living in a house somewhat controlled by a ghost, it's probably best if it's our friend."
Ra'ven: "Plus, it's not like most of us aren't wierd drifters..."
Fallen: "Oh, yeah. I've got a bunch of good words. Ate a book once, even. That's a joke. But don't worry, I'll translate. Happy to help you get to know each other."
Fallen: "True, you're bizarre. Pretty neat, though."
Fallen: "But uh, if you folk retrieve things for jobs, and things are busy right now... maybe I could go grab something for you? I mean, there's got to be someone or something you'd like in this city. You could choose something tough enough that if I can manage it, I can be one of your part-timers."
Fallen: "See, first day on the job and already willing to dodge the constabulary for you! That's dedication."
Rai Patience Cantor seems to outright ignore Fallen's presence. "As I said, we have a little time. Spend it doing what you fancy, or preparing. i have to much to do to handle... this."
Rai Patience Cantor turns, shaking her head, off to find Ty and Abner.
Ra'ven: "I did report the information we have at least... And nobody else jumped me."
Fallen: "Oooh. She's peaches, she is. I'd like to take her out for a romantic night of fireworks and fine-dining, maybe a little wine an' some music, if ya know what I mean, heh." He winks at Ra'ven. "Oh yeah. I'm talking some damn meaningful, naive courtship right there." He sighs. "She wouldn't go for it, though. Not even close to her type."
Clarity 's face screws up a little as she looks at Fallen. "I uh, don't think she'd be interested, no."
Fallen: "Hyup. Is what I figured. Might say I got a seventh sense for that sort of thing."
Tyellenthi and Abner show up, both looking a little confused before introductions are made. He moves to follow them, waving at the rest of you. "Remember! I'll be around nearby somewhere if you can think of a good test. Uh.... probably should leave a note for me under that one split cypress in the garden. I'll just check it every now and then," he says, as though he didn't just tell you he was going to be trespassing at will for the foreseeable future.
Ra'ven looks for Perra as everyone gets the introductions
Fallen: (OK guys. Here it is. Do you plan on doing anything before it all starts, or would you rather skip more or less to when the summit starts? I am fully willing to do either.)
=^v^=: (( I have nothing particulary important to say or do till the 'event' ))
Riot: (( same ))
vonel: (( I'm good ))
Perra is off getting cleaned up and resting after blood pool
Fallen: (as well you should. That was gross.)
The day of the summit's official beginning greats you with warm rain from the great thermal that the city derives much of its wealth from. Despite being nearly warm enough the bathe in, most of the visitors to the city, and even many of the locals have huddled indoors and under eaves and awnings. For once, getting around in the city was more of a matter of comfort than real difficulty, with the considerable lessening of the crowds, and the commensurate reduction in thievery. The city guards seem to be riding it out well enough inside their gatehouses, but once you've arrived at the Brass Quarter, you can see that the private guard retinues of the other attendees are probably the most miserable people you've seen all day, made to wait outside with their masters' carriages and other items, fully exposed and soaked completely through. But that sullen weather somehow feels more like a fist clenched, ready to be thrown, and the tension is palpable. There are literally thousands of groups and their retinues from across the league and farther, and their numbers manage to eclipse those on the streets, rather than the other way around as on other days. Most of them seem to keep to themselves, but within a minute of arriving you've already seen a half-dozen near-miss altercations, and nobody seems to be doing much about it other than pretending that they don't see it.
Ra'ven keeps teleporting slightly, making all the rain hiss angrly as it evaporates, then getting wet again, only slightly annoyed-looking.
Rai Patience Cantor: "Luckily none of us will have to wait out there. Professor Okorion continues to be grateful to us, and has provided us with a little more leeway in terms of who can enter. I'm a guest, but technically the rest of you are staff, helping to keep order with the Ethereological Society's guards. They understand, and you'll be able to move freely, though."
Rai Patience Cantor: (brb, sry)
Riot: (( no worries ))
Rai Patience Cantor: (k, back, apologies.)

Rai Patience Cantor: "The first part of the event will have a presentation of the combined findings of the various experts, held in public. Now, the most powerful of those here will aready have been briefed before we arrive, but most will not. They'll learn the broad strokes during this first presentation, and will listen to a number of both experts and politicians weigh in, but will not be allowed to ask questions. After this, there will be a short recess to unveil the various informative panels and such, as people will need to educate themselves about whatever aspect of this situation will affect them most severely. We need to attend the opener, but the panels are where we really want to be. They'll probably be divided up every which way, by topic and by location, and by potential responses... There will be a lot of crossover, and it will likely be quite chaotic. Try to find panels in which middle ranked and up nobility are congregating which have to do with relevant topics. I'd suggest anything military related, and anything that seems like an unusual method of solving the problem. Those types always need just one more component."
Rai Patience Cantor: "Don't commit to anything right away. I've printed cards; hand them to whomever seems interested. We'll touch base every now and then to compare leads. All reasonably simple, yes?
Rai Patience Cantor: (oh man. Uh, I know this is early AND we didn't start until a little late, but I'm suddenly falling asleep over here. Can I just promise to have lots of stuff prepared for next time? I know that was just me typing furiiously for a couple of hours, but hopefully it wasn't a complete waste of time.)
